At work we needed a protractor and smart tools came to the rescue. At work again, google verification error prevented the app working App refuses to work after long period off-line. Have now confirmed, you must run it online once a year for the app to work. Would be nice if this was mentioned. After years of moderately successful usage, it's now not compatible with my device. Oh well.

Wishlist: Please add portrait mode, thermo and visual measurement :). This is one of those apps that you don't realize how amazing it is until you actually need it. Not a big drain on battery or memory, and has lots of little Nifty items that you can download separately. But it's worth it just to buy them all. It's been around for a while and they keep trying to add features and shrink its footprint. It just gets better. So many little amazing features and I don't even know half of what it does.

The app was useful years ago, now almost all the features are available for free on Android phones. The biggest let down is it won't work if you don't have internet connection. Even if you have paid for the premium version. Moreover, to screw up the original users that have paid for the original version which is now rarely updated they come up with V2 which is no different than V1. Their website is outdated and their YouTube videos don't work. That tells you a lot about the developer that makes you pay for something that's free.

Smart tools for smart phones. One paid app that's a smart decision. SMART!! 7 years have passed since I wrote the review above. And ? It's never let me down no matter what device it's in. What makes it so special? 1. The simplicity of the flashlight widget. 2. The accuracy of it's measurements. 3. It's options are spot on, not lacking or too many. 4. EVERY thing in it works as advertised. 5. The woodgrain theme is comforting. Love it. 6. ...I could go on and on ... Thanks to the developer.

Well done, but unremarkable. I was originally sold by the package deal which now feels incomplete. Besides, I gadually managed to duplicate every component with a no-cost, ad-free variant that's just as good. Still worth keeping around for the time being, but I wish there was a upgrade path. Afterall, it's not unreasonable to expect the release of "Smart Tools 3" next year.

No, it's not a replacement for a real tape measure, but when used correctly it will give reasonably accurate estimates. This app has hundreds of possible uses. For example, an amateur geologist could measure strike, dip, and location of a rock outcrop. UPDATE: The app icon disappears from my home page on reboot. UPDATE: Can't install on my new Galaxy J7.

Nice collection of tools. Wish we could pull a tool out to put in another folder. UPDATE: Found that some tools can be pulled out as widgets. UPDATE2: This app is becoming less significant to me. I have a newer phone now with some of the same features built in. There hasn't been any significant updates to it other than making it work with some newer phones. I bought the paid version a few years ago. I may uninstall.

Smart Tools is a useful app, but when I found myself in the middle of a forest with no mobile service, I wasn't able to launch the app due to licensing check. That's an unfortunate limitation for an otherwise decent utility. After reading the app description, it looks like there's a way around this, but perhaps the developer could consider allowing a grace period of a few uses with a prominent warning, rather than expect users to launch the app a few times first while online.
