I played a lot of Gamebooks back in the day, Fighting Fantasy, Lone Wolf, Way of the Tiger, etc. This game reminds me of them. The illustrations are pretty good. Brutal insta-deaths and trials & errors are ok… for those who had completed games like House of Hell, Trial of Champions and Bloodbone, but not for most of today's casual players. They want to choose whatever they want with every option allowing them to wreck havoc, instead of trying to find the only one true path to victory, which explains why those books with superheroes and zombies sell so well. The market is harsh, but please don't be disheartened by that. If House of Hell were released as a brand new Hosted Games title today, it would very likely be bombarded with one-star reviews, especially from those who got stuck in the doomed kitchen.

This game follows the after effects of the original Wizard of Oz. All the different main characters from the original are mentioned and some new characters are brought in with some excellent plot tying the story together. This game is good for multiple playthroughs too, between being good or wicked and going west or east you could get 4 different possible endings. If you like the original Wizard of Oz story this is a creative fan fiction. The price for the game is cheap too.

The story was so so - could have been a longer tale and more could have used more polishing. I wasn't too happy about making a choice and then oops ... Your choice doesn't count because you didn't make the right choice. Much like bathing in tabasco sauce I found this story game a little irritating.

Very short, very linear, poor grammar and none of your choices matter, it's a very strong railroaded experience ending with you either evil or good with no real emotional weight behind it one way or the other, it's literally do you A) kill this person or B) give them everything they could ever ask for sorts of questions, meaning you have literally no emotional investment, you can't even be evil for a good reason or good for an evil, I do encourage the author to maybe try again with a lot more thought put into this as I can see it's probably a first attempt, however in future please don't railroad and please get an editor to oversee your work, maybe a games tester to see if it does flow well as both a game and story, put more effort into player choices and don't block off their choice, also consider the fact that good and evil are often two sides of the same coin, what is good to the spider is evil to the fly. Keep writing and I hope that my harsh criticisms help you to product a better story next time.

Death by shower. I took a shower, and my game ended with no explanation, what is this witch craft? Did I die? WHY IS IT GAME OVER? The game play is alright, and definitely in reference to the classic Choose Your Own Adventure novels, having a set number of endings without much variety. It's a simple and sweet adventure, maybe a little dull, but not horrible, and I appreciate the low pricing. The writing looks promising, so I'm hopeful for future games from this creator, though I would recommend increasing complexity and character development for future games.

I'm not that far in, but most of the choices thus far, are nothing. Choose 1 of the 5 and have to keep choosing till you make the "right" one... If this changes as you get further in the story I will amend my review. Until then, it feels like shoehorn city to me...

Really not a fan of the whole "make a random choice and if you get it wrong, go back and guess again" format. The artwork was nice though. ^_^
