Completely unreliabe POS. When you need it rest assured the site will be down and you will be back to the old fashioned way. Site comes up and you finally connect then device goes off line. This device was a waste of cash and the app is complete dog poo. In the trash it goes! No more flame boss products for me. Thanks for nothing.

Of 184 apps on my phone, this is the worst by a mile. Every time is a fight. Never likes to hook up. I have to login every single time. The unit connects about 3% of the time.. it's hysterically awful. Save your money.

This app is horribly inconsistent since the update. It has always been WAY off.... like, 50-100F off (doesn't need cleaning, as it's reading HIGH). I have adjusted my cook for this, but since the update, it's even worse. Many times, the fan won't even come one when it needs to (when the commanded temp is 200 more than it reports). You need to unplug (reboot) for it to come on

I've used this for years. I changed my router and WiFi connection. I'm pretty tech savvy and this was a nightmare trying to reconnect to a new WiFi point. I factory reset the flame boss and tried to connect via the app. Unfortunately when it connects to the FB access point, it kicks me out of the cloud app because I'm no longer connected to the internet. So dumb. I'm over this product and will no longer recommend flame boss to my friends.

The Flame Boss 500 is great, but this app is garbage. Constantly losing connection to the controller. Never could get it to connect through the cloud, so I use a local connection. Even with all of androids power management for this app disabled, it can't stay connected to the controller, so alarms are useless. I've spent more time closing and restarting the app just to get it to work.

The app works great and is simple. This review is more for Flame Boss customer service. They are spectacular. When I had problems with my FB400, I called them. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. Unfortunately, my unit had to go in for repair. It was long out of warranty. They took care of it quickly and was very reasonablely priced verses buying new.

Update: I have reduced my rating down to one star. I constantly have to reload the app, and some days it won't connect at all. The hardware works great but this app is junk. Wish I would have bought a different brand of controller. The controller itself is great. But this app... Not so much. It seems to disconnect from the unit any time I switch to a different app or lock my phone so I don't get any kind of notifications from it unless I have it open on my screen. Kind of defeats the purpose.

The device itself does a good job keeping a stable temperature in my smoker, but the internet connectivity of the device and the functionality of the app in connecting to the device are extremely unreliable. Today it dropped the connection after a couple hours and simply will not reconnect to the cloud. Local connect mode is a little more reliable after the 4.06 update but still not great. On startup the app sometimes says there are no controllers registered (desipite a controller appearing on the screen behind the popup). The menu layout is not intuitive and given the frequency of connection drops it is annoying that you can't switch modes from the cook screen, you have to bail out and change the mode under "profile". The cook time listed on the web site doesn't match the app (app uses local time while the site appears use eastern time always? My phone knows where I am, can't the app tell the server?) Today in local connect mode, the app would lose connectivity but still show "connected" in the cook page while showing stale data. Htiting "back" would send the app into a "unable to connect" popup where the only options were "switch mode" and "retry" (no cancel, stop, etc).
