Aktiv Learning is an active learning platform built specifically for college-level chemistry and mathematics. Say goodbye to static content and generic multiple choice questions and hello to dynamic problems that are designed to help students learn and visualize abstract concepts in STEM.Aktiv Learning allows chemistry instructors to ask students engaging questions, such as drawing Lewis structures, and receive real-time information on what structures the class is drawing. The app features a custom-built tool that allows students and instructors to quickly and intuitively draw Lewis structures on mobile devices. Additionally, both students and instructors have access to over 250 built-in questions related to Lewis structures, resonance, molecular geometries, VSEPR, hybridization, sigma and pi bonding, and molecular polarity.
Features:
• Intuitive Lewis structures drawing tool built specifically for mobile devices - Use as engaging demonstration for your students to show example Lewis structures and reinforce concepts such as the octet rule, formal charge, and VSEPR. Students can take advantage of the drawing tool to visualize the relationship between Lewis structures and molecular shapes.
• Create in-class or homework assignments - Perfect for clicker, recitation, or review problems. Students receive push notifications to alert and remind them of pending assignments.
• Assign or practice with over 250 built-in questions related to Lewis structures, resonance, molecular geometries, VSEPR, hybridization, sigma and pi bonding, and molecular polarity.
• Real-time class results - Quickly find common incorrect structures to address student misunderstanding before exams.
• Isoform recognition - Aktiv’s technology recognizes correct answers independent of the drawn structure orientation.
• Export student activity - Student participation and performance exported in a tap of a button.
• Easy sign-up - Students and instructors can create accounts and join courses all within the app in a few steps.
• School IT and device independent - Assign, work, and review from any mobile device and over any network connection.

The app is designed and organized fine but my main problem that ruins the entire thing is how slow it is. It takes 2 minutes to get to the homework questions from opening the app because it's so slow. The wait time for typing in answers and it telling you if you're right or not is ridiculous. Plus it freezes up if you even think about changing your answer quickly then submitting it again.

Crashes all the time after submitting answers. Can't view answers after question is answered correctly or incorrectly. This never used to be a problem until the name of the app changed (and I'm guessing someone bought out the company). Also, sometimes tables and images don't show properly. They either dont load at all or they show half off the screen and you cannot scroll to the right to view the whole table/image. Samsung Galaxy S10

It satisfies my expectations. It appears to make assignments and testing easier for the professor, and it makes it also easier and more efficient for the students. The professor once mentioned having some technical difficulties, but nothing too bad, I think, and he said he got help from customer service to resolve the issue. And I've never had any significant issues. So, I would say it's a worthy piece of software for chemistry teaching and learning.

I have never had an app run this slowly. It keeps crashing in the middle of quizzes, I have to hit buttons multiple times before anything works, etc.- I've tried a few different devices. It's not me, it's the app. If I wasn't required to use this app for a class, I would have immediately gotten rid of it. Please don't use this app for classes, teachers, it is unbelievably frustrating to have a timed quiz that continues counting down time while it buffers 5-10 seconds for every button click.

Some of the molecule building tools are nice, when they work, but the app is incredibly buggy and crashes after nearly every question. So far today I have completed 19 questions, had 25 minutes of screen time and have opened the app 16 times. If this were a free platform, or if it were exclusively the organization that paid for it, I would be more fine with it, but when I am forced to pay out of pocket for an app with such a poor user experience, I really don't like that.

Chem101 have helped me so much before any of my exams. Not only it is easy to use, it is also fun to use. I was able to solve my problems and get actual reliable feedbacks so I can fix my mistakes. The only thing I would say is the app sometimes glitches when building a Lewis structure. It might just be my phone but everyone I submit, it woul reset my model.

This app and service in general is absolute trash. It crashes constantly and doesn't save your work. I have spent more time watching this app both web browser and the android app load than I have done actual homework. There are so many loading screens it's like the created the app to make people annoyed. It is hands down the most frustrating app I have ever used in my entire life. If I have the option I would never use this app and the corresponding service ever again

The concept that this app is portraying is perfect. Students need an app like this to have everything they need in one go. Unfortunately, they lacked in effective content. It is glitchy, lagging and blacks out every hour or so. My students struggle in the classroom because we depend on Chem101 to have them do homework, but everynight they try and it glitches out and they cannot do their homework. Please redo this app to ensure a better experience for students everywhere. Thank you!
