I studied Italian in college & have been using this app as a way to pick it up again. I have been using it for over a year & have gotten to the point where I need actual lessons & that just winging it doesn't help & only causes frustration. There is no teaching, just figuring it out - so you get a lot of things wrong. This latest update doesn't grant double/triple xps (even when earned). Also bothers me that "Super" learners compete in the same leagues as non subscribers, unfair advantage.

Started Duo, and felt like the program was progressing me at a snail's pace. Adds are an absolute headache now, so the free version is even less viable. I do think it's a fun app, but for serious learners, I'd look into spending your money on other resources. I've had Spotify sub for years. You'd be surprised by how many audiobooks, podcasts, and music you can find in your target language. I imagine those with Prime memberships might have something similar. Food for thought.

Missing some key features that'd take the learning experience to the next level. There's a vocabulary list but you can't do anything with it, you should be able to search through it with ease by typing, convert them into categorized lists, or even flashcards. The type of activities you do (at least for the first few levels) are not diverse enough and become boring. Depending on the language you study, they don't get you typing or speaking in the language till much later on which is half the fun.

Designed well. Fun and motivational to finished units. Each exercise is short which is awesome if you have limited time. The one thing I wish was better is it not great for learning travel language. The app asked my goal which was to learn conversational German for traveling. It really isn't geared for that. It's not focused on travel words. I don't need to know the words owl or bear and it's too focused on spelling.

I appreciate this app very much, especially for the language learning it provides. However, while I have become much more proficient at music sight reading, there seems to be an issue with the songs. Either the app lags, causing me to miss notes that I'm actually pressing, or the timing is off, and it has happened on both my devices, despite me clearing the cache and rebooting. Also, the sight music sometimes doesn't sync with the sound. Maybe this happens because it's a new feature.

I've used Duolingo multiple different times through out a span of a couple of years. Recently, I've seen some pretty infuriating stuff on the app. 1 When I go to practice to earn more hearts, the button doesn't work and is grey. This has happened every time I've tried to get more hearts. 2 Sometimes when I do a lesson, and I go to do the next, it still says I haven't done the one that I just did. This has happened a handful of times. Please fix these.

This app is fine for what it is. It's an unobtrusive way to learn languages. It's not perfect, but there's resources out there for that. I am marking a star off because of how annoying the ads are. I don't need to be sold on Super every day, and every time a full screen ad takes over I debate uninstalling the app. If I wanted to spend money on this I would have already.

Okqy, Duo, wow. There is so much improvement in the korean that i deleted and started over so i could learn what the old program had left out. Edit,11/24: regarding the music, make it work with bluetooth, duo! I know how to play piano, but if the notes won't register when i play then it's pointless, and my bluetooth makes everything delayed. 🤷🏻♀️
