PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) adalah suatu pendekatan untuk melatih komunikasi dengan menggunakan simbol-simbol verbal. Awalnya PECS ini digunakan untuk siswa-siswa pra-sekolah yang mengalami autisme dan kelainan lainnya yang berkaitan dengan gangguan komunikasi. Siswa yang menggunakan PECS ini adalah anak yang perkembangan bahasanya tidak menggembirakan dan tidak memiliki kemauan untuk berkomunikasi dengan orang lain. Dalam perkembangan selanjutnya, penggunaan PECS telah meluas dapat digunakan untuk berbagai usia dan lebih diperdalam lagi.
Tujuan yang ingin diperoleh dari pembuatan aplikasi mobile ini adalah memberikan alternatif media Komunikasi Kepada anak-anak yang berkebutuhan khusus untuk berinteraksi kepada orang lain.
