Have you experienced eye strain, headache, migraine or other symptoms from being exposed to flickering lights or screens? Use this app to measure which lights or screens are flickering and how much and which are flicker-free!This app measures flickering of light that are flickering/blinking so quickly so that we cannot usually see it with our eyes. But it can still have a negative affect on us - eye strain, headaches, migraines and even epilepsy seizures are reported as consequences of flickering lights. With this app you can measure if your LED lamps, LED bulbs, fluorescent tube lights and screens are flickering and how much.
How to Use the App?
Place the phone in a position so that the camera is facing a surface, such as a white paper, an evenly colored wall or a floor, that is lighten by the light source you want to measure the flickering from. It is very important to let the phone stand still during the measurements as movement can cause the meter to measure a too high flickering value.
What is a Flickering Percentage?
The percentage flickering is the apps estimation of the difference between the maximum and minimum light output from a light source. A flickering measurement value of 25% means that the minimum light varies between 75% and 100% light output. A light that switches off completely in each cycle will have a flickering measurement of nearly 100%. A light that does not vary in light output will have a flickering measurement of nearly 0%.
How Accurate are the Measurements?
As long as the phone during measurements is standing absolutely still, without any movements and are directed towards an even surface, the accuracy seems to be within plus/minus five percentage points under normal circumstances on most devices.

This app is more suitable for measuring flicker of bright light sources, like lamps. I tried to measure flicker of the OLED display of my laptop (which caused me so much pain and suffering), and it was too dark for the app to reliable measure flicker. However the app showed life feed from the camera from which I was able to confirm strong display flicker. The feed was very dim, but showed strong bands on the display which is an indication of flicker.

Works, was able to detect that a led strip was flickering a lot. Fixed by adding 10000uF capacitor on driver output side. According to app flickering decreased from 97% to 38%. And the eye strain i could previously feel when observing the light was gone. And now I know to avoid that brand of led drivers. Useful for detecting flickering beyond what the eye can perceive, above 60hz or so.

Great APP!!! Works great. Can't beat the one time payment. No monthly reoccurring fees.

Hello 😊, dear developpers 😊, thank you very much for your beautiful app. Flicker meter is indeed a very useful application! This app is very important for those who want to save their eyesight. I bought one of the latest smartphones, and didn't know why I had so extreme eyestrain :(, thanks to Flicker Meter I found out such a thing known as PWM (pulse width modulation). This PWM is extremely bad for eyes 👀. I recommend everyone to test every display with Flicker Meter before using!

1. App is listed as free and it's only free for 2 weeks after which requires licence fee. Developer responded to my previous rating and comment by adding note about "a few weeks" trail period ("a few" == 2?) and keeping app listed as free. 2. Whatever the developer did after responding to me, my rating and comment disappeared  reposting with update here 2. After developer response it's still not clear why calibration is required - it's rather poor quality.

Sadly the frequency measurements are completely off and inconsistent. An defective led light which flickers with visible 50hz is shown as having either 200 (Xiaomi 11 ultra) or 270hz (Samsung A13). other lights are for example measured with 150 Hz on Xiaomi and 200hz on the Samsung phone. nice idea, bad implementation. at least, it can kind of reliability detect flicker at all, that is why I give two instead of one star.

I made a DIY LED study lamb by myself ,its a very simple circuit. I made it with 12- 3.6v smd LEDs , 3.7v li-ion battery and a TP4056 charger to charge the battery... "LEDs connected directly connected to battery don't blick or flicker" so, I test this app on my lamb and it shows exactly "1% flickering" So i think this app is fairly accurate and very well made. 💯 to developers
