Anything I tried to take a photo of and translate just gave me an error: "Oops! Something went wrong." The cover of the novel was understandable because the colourful font probably couldn't be read properly, but it was even giving this error on the black and white text inside, despite choosing the languages.

Very accurate scan & text translator. Transcribes things easily and quite accurately. Has cropping capabilities and the interface is beautiful. A well-designed app and very useful. I use it for translating Japanese text in photobooks to English. If it can be synced to all your devices under your Google login that would make it perfect. Oh, and if there was a buy for a lifetime purchase for using the app. Looking into it. I think they do have that option as well.

I downloaded this app in December and cancelled it well before the free trial was over. I know I did it the right way because I followed the instructions to a tee. I just realized that I have been being charged $5.99 for six months for an app that isn't even installed on my phone and was appropriately cancelled. It's not the end of the world, but be cautious if anyone offers a "free" trial, make sure you check a few times that they are not still charging you.

Great app, glitch free, simple to use, does what it says on the tin. I use the subscription version daily. I also use Google translate app for its instant floating text translation but only for a very quick very few lines of text, otherwise its limited. It's a feature which I wish this app would also incorporate. But for stabilty and longer text , scan & translate is my go to.

With some translations this works better than Google Translate, and with others the reverse is true. In free mode there is a LOT of advertising, you would need to pay to use it as a practical travel companion. All translation is via a 3 step process, take photo -> ocr -> translate, any adverts add more steps. Nonetheless it is otherwise fast, and useful when you're sure Google has it wrong.

Very easy to use both from scanning documents and from images you have been sent. It allows you to select an area within each image to capture characters using the OCR software, then it displays what it has found and shows the language it believes it has detected. If it's incorrect you can choose both the source and destination languages before hitting the translate button. I have been translating from Chinese and Portuguese both into English and the translations are accurate so far.

The free version works well for my purposes, which is to translate instructions from Chinese to English. Take a picture, choose a language, have it translated. Accomplished! Maybe a bit more intuitive, but otherwise fine. HINT: Looks like you have to pay before it translates, but you don't need to, just click the X.

I installed the app and it did nothing. So I tried it out and start nothing! It was Chinese text and trying both Chinese options, the text was translated back to Chinese, both times, instead of English. It doesn't work. Another app I tried out had an option to automatically choose the language and it worked flawlessly!
