Play directories the same way you play individual audio tracks.
Longer Story:
Folder Player is a freeware which knows how to play whole directories. It can browse and play individual files, folders, or full folder trees.
Why another music player for Android?
There are many great mp3 players out there. If you're happy with them, you probably don't need another one. But chances are, you have the same problem as I had before I created this app - you tried many players, and your mp3 tag-based access to your music still too cumbersome, because your world defined - yes - by folders.
Is Folder Player a solution?

Great Player, outstanding performance. Very intuitive to use, and the sheer amount of features is really great. When running on LineageOS I have the issue of the player being in the foreground when unlocking via print, and it refuses to close on its own. This can be worked around by just going up the folder hierarchy and thus exiting the player to come back to your unlocking mask, after wich everything works as normal. Not a problem in itself though, just an inconvenience. 5 stars nontheless!

Developer seems a bit shy (or 'lazy' haha, just kidding) listing all features it has so this one almost slipped under my radar while searching for a folder based player with some specific additional features (they are listed on the linked homepage but seriously who goes to homepages while browsing through Play store? :)) *folder bookmarks, *remember where you stopped listening within a bookmark, *tags ('playlists'), *includes files in sub folders (I know not all so called 'folder players' do that), *auto play next folder (pro feature), *sleep timer, *very clean design (subjective of course), etc. Good job, I think I've finally found my player of choice (plan to buy pro version soon).

Hi, I found something that might be a bug.. Installed this on redmi note 13 5g with hyperos 2.0 (android 15). The equalizer works, but the bass booster and virtualizer both fail. I checked on old redmi 8a (android 10) with same version as above it works perfectly. Apart from small things above, this is still the best and safest music player because it has no ads and no need for network access. I use this as the default player replacing the standard phone app. Thanks 🙏

I've had this installed on every smart phone I have ever had since my first in 2010, (I hadn't realized it's been my go-to music player for 14yrs!) I'm from the old windows era, long before streaming existed, when the best way to get music was Napster, and play it on WinAmp. So I've always had music sorted by folder, not playlist, and I just like clicking "Play folder." Naturally, I wanted that on my smartphone. And Folder Player has been the king for nearly 20yrs! So easy a caveman can do it!

This player works well for me. I like storing music via folders, nice and organized. A MAJOR bonus to me is that it plays (virtually) any media file in the folder as audio. So, I can keep music videos where they would logically go (at least logical to me) and it will play them back as if there were straight audio. The only reason that I'm giving four stars is that it sometimes hangs, but this *may* be my files.... looking into this.

.The adviced fix was not available till i cleared data&cache... Troubles from long term users 😜 I never saw them before, now available. Not sure how to disable. Reinstallation didn't work (even after reboot) Clearing the data& cache seems to have done the trick. Last year i would have given this app 5 stars, sadly a new android update really messed up. Any folder, first song okay. Second song no volume!! Tap 15 second forward or backwards.. volume is back With fast support fixed! 5 star

I've been using this app as my music player for several years because it's simple and folder based rather than playlist (which I can't be bothered to make). Problem is about 4 months ago I lost the ability to display and begin playback of songs through it in Android auto. It worked fine prior to that, but now the only way to use it in Android auto is to start playback on my phone then open Android auto. I can then skip, pause and play using my audio controls, but not select songs on the screen.

Was great before the update. Had a few little niggles like not maintaining display orientation. Now it always sits on the lock screen and dominates in Android Auto blocking out other apps, even if I don't start it from boot. Most of the update is great, but these two issues have made it a huge pain, and have lead to uninstall. Look forward to another update to fix these. Need a simple player that just works on folder path and not metadata tags (I like to organise by my own folder names)
