Did you ever felt, that one Charger/USB cable set charges your device really fast and the other not? Now, you can prove this with Ampere.Measure the charging and discharging current of your battery.
PRO features:
- Widgets
- Notification
- Alerts on device
- Alerts on Android Wear
Not every device is supported because there are devices which lacks an appropriate measurement chip (or the interface) and they can not be supported at all. Please read the list of not supported phones at the end of the description.
The app is not meant to be mA accurate. It is only good for evaluate which Charger/USB cable combo is working the best for you on the same device.

----
Start the app and wait ca. 10 seconds ("measuring" is on the display). After this time, the charging or discharging current will be shown.
The current depends on many things:
- Charger (USB/AC/Wireless)
- USB cable
- Phone type
- Current tasks running
- Display brightness
- WiFi state
- GPS state
Please don't use the readings on this app as concrete science. However, the readings are good enough to relatively measure how various chargers and USB cables fair on the same device.
If the app shows 0mA all the time, please use the settings option "Old measurement method". You can force the app with it to use the old measurement interface, if the Lollipop device has at least one.
Unfortunately some Samsung devices don't give correct (measured) values (e.g.: S5), just the maximum possible charging current with the actual USB cable/charger configuration. This is a firmware problem.
----
Background info: The app measures the charging/discharging current of the battery. If your phone is not connected to a charger, you see the discharging current which is negative. If you connect a charger then the current what the charger gives will be used to supply your phone and the remaining power will be charged into the battery.
If your phone consumes 300 mA without a charger connected (-300mA on the display), then a 500 mA charger will charge your battery maximum with 200 mA current (200mA on display).
----
Technical info: The displayed current is an average value from 50 measurements minus the 10 upper values and the 10 lower values. The displayed current can be shaky or unstable or even zero which means, that the Android system provides unstable values. Every company uses different battery types and other hardware making it difficult to get accurate results about your charger.
----
LiPo batteries don't draw the maximum for the full time it takes to charge the phone. If your battery is charged almost full then the charging current will be much less as by lower battery levels.

Phones/ROMS compatible only with "Old measurement method" switched on and selected the right "Measurement interface":
➤ HTC One M7 / M8
➤ LG G3
Phones/ROMS reported to be not working with this app:

Please do not give wrong rating, if your phone is one of the above. Not the app is wrong, but your phone does not support this kind of measurement yet.
If the app doesn't work on your device with pre-Lollipop Android version, then please read the first and the second posts in this XDA developer forum thread: http://goo.gl/pZqJg8 . Please post your problem with screenshots in the XDA thread.

I have Pixel 9 Pro and this app was working fine. Then Google released Pixel Drop update in December which introduced "Charging Optimization" options. When I leave the phone on "Adaptive Charging", the Ampere app shows and works properly. When I have it set on "Limit to 80%", then the app shows "Unknown" at the top and battery health as Unknown as well. It doesn't matter which charging method is being used(wireless or wired charging).

Seems that two main purposes of this app is to test the chargers and see the health of the battery. Not sure about the first goal, but regarding the second one, the app is useless, as it's indicator is plainly wrong. Somehow, it figures out that the battery is good even for a very old phone with a battery so bad that the phone shuts down after a minute or two if unplugged.

I have an Anker wall charger at the end of an extension cord. My phone battery was draining even when plugged in. I contacted Anker and they sent a new charging brick. The issue persisted. I thought it was voltage drop over the extension cord and was just about to purchase a thicker gauge extension. This app proved it was the USB cable. Thanks soouch for this awesome app!

This app is extremely good if you want to simply but accurately detect which of your chargers or charging methods are working properly. It lets you really know exactly which ones work the best or might be underperforming. This also applies to your cables too. I found that my best charger charged 10 times faster with my best cable (2600 MAh on Samsung S8) compared to my least performing cables with the same excellent charger. Extremely easy and clear to use

I been looking for a way to find a cycle count for how many full charges my phone has been through. Phones usually get around 500 every 2-3 years. I have had my phone for exactly 2, and it is at 318. I don't know how accurate this app is at figuring it out, or how they can even tell, but if it is legit.....then this is amazing and exactly what I have been looking for. Assuming numbers are accurate anyways. It's just crazy that I had to use an app and can't just check in the settings of my phone.

I put this app on my phone because it takes forever to charge my phone and even discharges while plugged in. I have changed chargers and cords, tried charging in airplane mode and with the phone turned off. This app tells me my battery is in good condition and it's charging just fine.... Meanwhile I have lost 10% after having it plugged in all night and all day. App lies.

It was working good earlier and I have been using it for more than 2 years now but recently it has developed this fault. When I attach the charger to phone it still shows discharging. it shows the correct value of current but with a negative sign. I mean that it shows the phone is discharging whereas the phone is actually charging. After the review above Ampere team very promptly responded. Very Good.

The app tells me the rate at which my battery is being charged but does not provide any context for that measurement in milliamps. It also lists some other information about my phone, the operating system version, the battery capacity, and the number of cycles on the battery. It would be helpful if the app explained what those numbers mean to someone who is trying to figure out whether they are using the best charger and cable for their phone.
