minutiae is an anti-social media app that helps participants capture the undocumented ordinary moments of life -- moments you would otherwise simply forget.

HOW IT WORKS
////////////////////////////

1. Once each day, at a random minute, all minutiae participants around the globe receive an alert simultaneously.

2. You have exactly one minute to respond to the alert and open the minutiae app.

3. Capture whatever is in front of you, there and then.

4. Once you’ve documented your moment, you have 60 seconds to explore previous moments. Both your own and those of one random stranger you are matched with each day.

4. Repeat for 1440 days (once for every minute in 24 hours).

5. The final outcome of this long-term collaboration between artist and participant is a digital archive of all of your captured moments, with the option to turn this archive into a physical book.

I really like this app. I'm not in a hurry to take photos, but it's striking that I haven't received any notifications in a month (the same time my old phone stopped working), I open the app at least twice a week and the "don't disturb" option is turned off. I'm reporting this because it could be an internal issue with the app.

The timer is way to short, if it's dark you can't turn on flash or use the standard camera app to get a picture in night mode. Almost every picture of mine is completely dark, sometimes because I couldn't get on time and sometimes just because it was at night. I also would to see an option to add a description so someone could know more about what's currently going when taking pic instead of it being just useless. —- Deleted the app, stopped getting any notifications I tried everything

I feel let down. I really really really wanted to participate in this project. I read all the instructions, double checked all my settings, and got started, but I haven't had an alert in 4 days. I have a notification tracker app to prove it. I feel really disappointed and like there's no support team to fix it, because the AI email response just told me to check my phone settings again.

I have spent three years devotedly using this app to record daily minutiae. Sadly in the last year I have had more and more trouble receiving alerts, not receiving alerts, unable to open the camera. SO disappointing after all that effort. I'm toldit is because my phone is Android but perhaps that should have been pointed our at the start. I'm quitting now which is such a disappointment.

Really disappointed with the app recently I have a new phone and I no longer receive notifications. I have tried all sorts of different settings and still not working. I emailed the company and had an initial response to try a setting (that I had already tried but did it again). I went back to them with results but have not heard back. I got so many people into it and was really looking forward to receiving my archive at the end but just think its going to mostly black boxes now.

I really want to love this app. I downloaded it because a friend had it, and I thought it sounded fun. I seem to be having issues though. I didn't get any notifications twice when I had my phone in my hand using it. It almost seems like I only get notifications when my screen is off. One time i clicked on the notification while the alert was still sounding and it told me I was too late? P.s. I have all of my notifications turned on too.

This is my kind of app! I don't have Instagram or Facebook or anything, as I don't have much interest sharing my life with the world. This app so far is a great way to chronicle my day to day life, I've only been going a few weeks but I love the selection of photos I've built up, random little moments. And being able to briefly share views with another person around the world gives me just the level of social networking I like. A well-executed idea - I can't wait to finish my cycle.

I like that you have no time to think through what you're going to take a picture of or when to take the picture. Also getting to see another person's quick take is interesting. As of late January 2024 the app notification sounds, but when I take a picture the app simply closes and has since been kicking me out. I don't know if a picture is being taken because the app won't start open.
