In some cases, parents might lose sight of their children due to overcrowded locations, or children might wander off on their own.
Child abduction seems to be on the rise in Egypt, part of a larger spike in crime that has been evident over the past three years.
According to the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM), from January to July 2014 of the 337 cases of violence against children reported in the period, 75 of the cases had to do with child abduction or trafficking. There were 32 such cases in August alone, with Cairo topping the league of child abductions followed by Giza and Alexandria.
Parents cannot be with their children at all times, yet still they have to monitor them to ensure safety.
The FinderApp is a promising partnership business between 6 high school students who aim to increase the safety levels in Egypt due to the current conditions that prompt parents to strictly protect their kids by prohibiting them from going out or engaging in activities.
According to personal accounts, we have seen parents/guardians restricting their children’s movement by tying them to leashes at malls, airports, and many other public places. In an attempt to prevent such inhumane actions targeting children, we offer our tracking accessory to grant the children more freedom in space, yet ensure safety.
