I use it all the time in the field, really useful and very easy to use. zoom in , sounds of birds and distribution maps. Great app for both novis and experts.

App is terribly slow and dysfunctional. The book itself is fine, but this is not acceptable performance. It constantly freezes and blanks out. The experience has been the same on different phones.

Do not get, very very poorly designed. Regret buying this at all, there are much better designed apps that are free.

I go to upgrade to third edition but nothing happens on android. I just get the screen with cover but trying click on the words to upgrade does nothing. Is there a fix for this?

Pay again already?! Bought for £7.99, and the first thing I see upon opening is a banner saying "third edition now available, pay £7.99 to unlock thirty new birds and updated information". Haven't actually used the app yet, but it's not cheap and at £7.99 I'd expect to get the most recent version on download. Being asked to pay the same again to unlock a little extra content feels icky.

Having bought this today for £7.99 and opened it for the first time this evening I'm presented with a notification that there's a new version which I could buy for another £7.99. I have to wonder why in the middle of 2024 I have been sold an old version and am required to pay extra for the latest version. Buying it today I would expect to get the latest version. Not a good look at all Collins. Absolutely no indication that the price has been reduced for the older version.

They now nag you always with buying the newer version on your payed one. I have had the book for a long time and then bought this app 2 years ago. The app is pretty good but it's very annoying that you can't set the guide to the language of your choice, only the name of the species is possible to choose the language for. I, and probably many others, want to be able to read the information of a species in other language than the Android system language, just like we can with so many other apps.

I have the A4 sized hardback, but have never been able to quite fit that into my jeans or shorts pocket - not a problem here. Also, the book is excellent, yet silent. And there are no videos in it. This app displays both calls and bird movement clips on top of all the good stuff from the book.
