As with all news sources, there is a taste of their political bias in their articles. Even with this bias, I trust it as a source of reliable information, although i use it in combination with multiple other news outlets to get the complete picture. The app itself is pretty great, with a sleek and simple interface that mimics but is not a cut and paste job of the desktop website.

I have used it for over a year now. It is slow and takes forever to refresh. So a fast WiFi is a prerequisite. My primary problem with the South China Morning Post is not as impartial as it likes people to think it is. It is just a bit slower in presenting news favorable to China and just a bit less space is devoted to what China can do, within its current constraints, including its political structure, to better handle its problems.

A great newspaper is committing suicide with this dreadful app. When it was free it worked beautifully and it was easy to navigate. I wouldn''t mind paying for the content but the app is so bad; screen freezes, scroll is sticky, layout appalling and incoherent, that I just give up. It's a mystery to me how they could have destroyed such a great app at the same moment they went behind a paywall. But sadly I have to give up and uninstall.

I paid for the content. but the amount of ads in the apps is crazy. totally making the reading experience below average. prefer to read over browser with ad block on.

This app doesn't seem to work with Android. It displays it's landing page on opening but once I click on any article to read, the app just exits.

Update: the forced 5 seconds full page ad at the start of the app is super annoying. I just stare at the countdown completely oblivious to the ad. A waste of money for your advertisers. Previous: Huge improvement since my last negative comment. Well done! Very good layout design and ease of use. Much better than the BBC app. 2014: The rolling advertisements that occupy a fairly large area below the news story are extremely annoying! Hey I'm already paying an annual subscription! Not good.

This used to be a really good app. All the news items were clearly ordered one after the other according to different categories. You could page down and pen the itens you were interested in. Now it is very confusing, large headlines obscuring other articles, then you page down, and articles you've just read keep reappearing. It gives the impression it has been designed by a monkey. I wish I could go back to the previous version. It says so much better.

The only app on my phone (besides banking) that needs me to log in every day....Just super frustrating.
