The video player is by far the worst aspect of the app. It always begins with a commercial, it doesn't offer a t3xd transcript if you don't want to watch a clip, and it is just generally poor quality compared to all other apps. Otherwise the CBC app does it's job relatively well

Chromecast no longer appears to be working since at least the most recent update. Usually use the YouTube channel for local news but a lot of times (Saskatchewan) doesn't get posted, especially on Fridays. Feel like I used to be able to cast to my tv in these cases from the app but now no longer working. Have cleared caches, uninstalled/reinstalled etc.

The app itself is fine and easy to use but I don't understand why a subsidized media company has to run ads before all of their videos, even forcing me to watch an ad that is sometimes as long as the clip I want to watch, and it's often the same ad played two or three times in a row. The news content itself is usually even-handed but opinion articles are definitely skewed toward liberal or so-called progressive ideologies.

Please stop the click bait nonsensical headlines. I appreciate CBC journalism, but the app headlines are making me cringe every time I open the app, and I end up skipping many articles and just reading from another site instead. Whatever changes have been implemented over the last year or so on this has been detrimental to the professional reputation on this front.

I turn to it sometimes for news and I am dismayed that there is no option to comment on articles. Also, real time reporting is practically non-existent with many 'breaking news' updates containing information several hours, if not a day or more, old. You need to hire a few more people to update the news. Edit: Getting a little better Edit 2: News has been stale again. Most items on the app are more than 2 days old. Not a reliable source for current news

The app works fine, click, then read. The reason I gave it a low score is because of how the widget interacts with the app. For example, I scroll through my widget and find an interesting headline(article), I click it, expecting to be linked to the article in the app so I can read more. However, it takes me to the top story in the app, and then I have to search for the article again. If it worked that way, I would use it more. Thanks.

Video stories take up to 60 seconds to load on my android phone and often have up to 30 seconds of commercials. Not usable. If you use a browser to view the same videos, they start right away. CBC has been presenting more and more of its news stories as videos which I find inefficient and annoying.

A growing percentage of the stories on this app are videos, instead of written articles, each of which begins with an ad. I'm looking to read stories at my own pace, so this trend doesn't suit me.
