The official FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app helps you keep in touch with your friends and prepare for adventure, anytime, anywhere! Access your in-game friend list, chat with fellow adventurers, make and share plans using the event list, manage your items, browse the market board, and assign retainer ventures!Please note that an active service account and subscription for FINAL FANTASY XIV are required to use this app.
Please also note that some features such as chat can still be accessed for the first 30 days after your subscription for the main game has expired. You will lose access to all features after this period.

Market Board
Items can be purchased or listed for sale on the market board through the use of in-app currencies: Kupo Nuts or Mog Coins. Kupo Nuts can be obtained as login bonuses and Mog Coins are available as in-app purchases. Please note that access to the market board via the FINAL FANTASY XIV Companion app is not available while logged into the game with the associated service account.
Retainer Ventures
Spend Kupo Nuts or Mog Coins and assign retainer ventures, anytime, anywhere!

While the app works well and can be super useful, the fact you need to use Kupo nuts (free resource that you only get 2 of each day) to do anything or make any changes greatly diminishes the use of this app, unless you are willing to spend lots of money to buy the currency they offer this app is worthless even with the premium subscription.

Very barebones. The only real uses it has at the moment is being able to send/recieve retainer ventures, and add an extra retainer/saddlebag to your in game characters. That's it. Would like to see some updates with new features. Maybe island workshops?

You already have to pay a subscription to play Ffxiv and although this app can be convenient to use I find it stupid that we'd need to pay extra to do more than the 1 daily kupo nut action you get... Rarely ever use the app because of this, which is a shame as it could be really useful. It's much more convenient to literally just open Ffxiv and do what you need 🤷♂️

It works well, but the limited actions hold it back! It would have been great if you were more generous with that, and if it's absolutely necessary to have a subscription, I feel it should be cheaper, or throw an extra retainer in and MANY more actions per day, and remove the purchase of coins, that is far too greedy. Not being able to login at the same time while playing is also an issue, but not a huge deal.

As others have said, this app is lacklustre but has no reason to be. The paid version is essential to get meaningful use out of it but still there are so many basic things missing. For instance the armory items are not clearly marked as to whether they are in a current gear set or not. Easy to get rid of things accidentally. Also, why can't you favourite any items or sort by value etc? Just examples. Get on with it SE.

in this day and age of technology this app needs a serious overhaul. it is slow, clunky, low resolution, constantly crashing, you have to quit the game to use it. not very user friendly at all. just make it into a simple app where u can check ur retainers, view a model of your hero and chat with your friends/fc. the rest of the features which don't even work are pointless. 1/5 until it is usable.

It's alright but it could be so, so much better than it is. They essentially did the absolute bare minimum that they could get away with, which is really disappointing. If you pay for a third retainer, you get one if you get premium on this app, along with an extra chocobo saddlebag, so it's somewhat better with that. But the app itself is not great at all and very bare featured

(Edit: app doesn't even work for me anymore, on any device I've downloaded it on. I've contacted support and exchanged some emails, one month later they tell me my ticket has expired and have to resubmit. It's been quite some time and even after this new update it still doesn't work.) So it's an app for a subscription based MMO that says you need another subscription to use? Then it also has microtransactions for you to do anything useful. Was looking forward to the app but in the end very disappointed.
