The Divine Office App is an opportunity for you to participate in the recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, an ancient and meditative collection of psalms, hymns and scripture that represent the public prayer of the Christian community.
If you are unable to pray in community, but love the contentment of praying with others, a praised feature of the Divine Office App lets you view locations where other Christians around the world are simultaneously praying with you.

This version is the official prayer book of the Catholic Church, however, it is suitable for all Christian faith traditions. It contains the official text and audio of daily prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours of the Roman Catholic Church (Breviary) and has been approved for use in the United States by USCCB.

The Divine Office App is designed to make praying more convenient, enjoyable, and simple enough for anyone to use. It automatically downloads the appropriate prayers for each office, every day of the year, including Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials.

When St. Paul advises us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing,” he intends more than simply bowing our heads and speaking to God on a regular basis. He means for us to adopt an ongoing attitude of prayer that is a way of life and a constant intercession for the salvation of all mankind.

As the mystical body of Christ prays in unison, it fulfills what Paul advises as Christian conduct, that believers at once pray for the good of themselves, their neighbors, and the world. In this way, prayers become liturgy, a way to fulfill our divine calling and a practical approach for addressing the suffering of the world.

Great app. I love that they make praying the office easy and include ribbon locations if you are using the books. I use the audio version in the car to get evening prayer in on my way home from work. The only way I think they could make it better would be to add an Android Auto feature so it's not so clumsy connecting to the car.

Helpful, but not in a new car. I have a new Chevrolet Silverado and the app will not send audio to the infotainment system. Every other audio app that I have including music or bible, any other app it works. Even after reset of the app and making sure that it's updated

There are some prayers in the morning prayer. It's usually the Mary prayers that don't have the audio, and I like to listen to you. I'd much rather listen to you than read you. I would've given you a five if it wasn't for that. I listen to you every morning and every night, sometimes in the day, but not often. 😀 I sometimes do the mid-morning prayer, but that's only because the morning prayer doesn't have audio.

if you have reason to stop the sound to him the prayers for readings, for whatever reason and switch apps and close the app It is something else, even if you force close the app, it doesn't stop. It just goes on forever and ever, the entire morning prayer and readings and hymns would not stop playing, looped over and over and over again for this reason, since it refuses to comply with user needs, It gets a one star and uninstalled

It's good due to the boldness, but I strongly suggest that the Psalms be made to flow. An antiphon shouldn't come after each strophe, but at the beginning and end of every psalm instead. It makes it difficult to use the way the Church prays it the way it's been designed.

The music soils this app, let me explain. Much of the music is performative and theatrical in nature, this type of music is not congruent with corporate singing. What ends up happening is that this type of music jerks you out of the sacred and transports you to the secular, until the actual prayers start up again. Many of the songs sound like they out of the 60's and 70's hippie movements, and one I just heard from mid-day prayer sounded like it was from Frozen. Stick with the LotH hymnal.

For simplifying the process of praying the Liturgy of the Hours, this app is wonderful! It completely eliminates the confusing and time consuming process of flipping between pages and books. However, the app itself does have its problems. 1) Sometimes, the text will stop loading mid-prayer. 2) Several times, the audio doesn't match the text, or a verse is missing mid-reading. 3) It often ignores settings and downloads what it wants. 4) I wish I could move it to my SD card to save on storage.

It's very good, and a wonderful resource for Liturgy of the Hours. The only thing I wish it did better was reformatting the UI, and maybe also set up each part in the liturgy in chapters. But all in all, started using this along with the audio, and it's made doing Morning and Evening prayers way easier than I realized. Also, beautiful hymns are sung through this app too. It's a great app that doesn't need you to pay anything to participate in what should otherwise already be open domain.
