theFlightVario turns your smartphone into a fully equipped variometer for paragliding. It is easy to use and fits advanced pilots as well as intermediates and beginners.

This smartphone variometer supports built in barometers and uses all sensors i. e. accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and barometer to fusionboost all of the information into a zero delay variometer for paragliding.
It also supports external barometers like the SkyBean2, blueFlyVario v12 and XCTracer via bluetooth low energy / bluetooth classic or USB.

Variometer sounds can be customized by defining the responsiveness, lift, sink and sniffing thresholds.

theFlightVario features a complete geolocation awareness by incorporating flatland and terrain maps together with a dynamic lookup of mountain names and places and information about airspaces and digital elevation data. A magnetic compass with worlwide compensation for geomagnetic field declination always indicates true north. Fully GPS assisted services include the lookup of mean sea level altitudes, the calculation of wind direction during flight as well as gps bearing and speed over ground. Locations are logged and color coded in .kml tracks for usage within Google Maps / Google Earth.

The calculation of common distances such a distance to start, free one way, free three turnpoint and closed/open triangles are being updated realtime during flight.
