Fable helps anyone feel better by helping you live a better story—by revealing the one you're already in.

This isn’t journaling with prompts. It’s life story-shaping. Fable listens to your ordinary thoughts, then reframes them through the mythic lens of the Hero’s Journey—illuminating the deeper story your life is telling.

After each entry, Fable decodes your words, surfaces hidden themes, and offers reflection from a sage-like voice who sees your path more clearly than you do. From there, you receive Prophecies—possible futures you might be growing toward. Choose one, and Fable gives you Missions to start making it real.

At the heart of it all is Shadow Work: Fable helps you face the parts of yourself you’d rather avoid—fears, aversions, shame—and integrates them into a more whole and powerful self.

Unlike other journaling apps, Fable doesn’t track your mood or analyze your productivity. It shows you how to live mythically, using your real experiences as the plot.

What you’ll experience:
- Your life, reframed as a mythic journey
- Illustrated reflections of your lived experience
- Insights from a wise, archetypal guide
- Prophecies revealing the futures you’re ready for
- Missions to turn insight into action
- Your favorite myths—re-aligned to the pattern of your everyday life
- State of the art voice transcription

Based on 20+ years of narrative research, and a 2024 study in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology showing that viewing your life as a Hero’s Journey increases meaning, Fable brings depth, beauty, and agency to your personal growth.

Try Fable free for 14 days. Mobile phone two-factor authentication is required to unlock your journal.

Although a lot of replies from the developer claim they added a free mode for core features, it looks like this app has gone subscription only. You can only make one entry and then you can't do anything else without a subscription or by referring people to sign up. Even without the AI features, they could at least let you make a basic entry. Some features look like they might be worth subbing for, but the basics should be free. Plus they should be more transparent that it's subscription only.

I enjoy the concept. And it's fun to see the AI generated illustrations for the journal entries, which helps motivate me to write daily. BUT, too many of the features (quests, epics, characters) that interested me in the first place are not free and need to be "unlocked" (i.e., pay for more "credits"). Another way to "earn credits" is to invite friends, but I don't want to invite friends to an app I'll probably ultimately end up uninstalling.

Since this is early access, let me just suggest you make it ad supported. I will never buy a credit from you ever. Let people pay to remove the ads and unlock more entries and images or whatever. Not to use the basic functionality of the app. Also an edit option before the commit would be cool since autocorrect is a thing. Just saying.

Very interesting concept, but 50 words is the limit for a journal entry? I would love to see a story written by things that go on throughout my day, page by Page like a fantasy style book but I think the word limit should be much more than 50. Also I agree with what everyone else says about the paying for credits. Either make it a one-time fee and unlock everything like other journals do or make it ad based. Also. Let us change the date and time.

Doesn't indicate prior to install that it's somewhere pay to pay. Then after telling you that when registering, it REQUIRES a phone number to register. I'm in the National DNC Registry and report or press charges on unwanted calls. I'm not giving my info up to a questionable app that's already suspicious by leading you to think the app is free until install.

App is faulty. Keeps forgetting password, even if re-entry is correct password. Keeps mentioning a "network error". Can't log into my regular journal. Waste of time and pho e space until it's a proper running app.

It's a really cool app, just far to expensive for me. I don't like the credit system. If there were other ways of earning credits besides sharing the app, I would keep it.
