Recent update has ruined the app for me. My favorite section is "What's News." But now it is unreadable due to the horizontal orientation and limited screen space which doesn't even allow a single full sentence to display. Also, headlines (and articles) displayed are no longer the same as those printed on the front page. I want to read what's printed. Don't pick articles for me - I'm capable of doing that myself. Fix the app or hire a different tech team.

The paper and subscription are great, of course. Half the time articles on the app don't open. Some articles open just fine, other times clicking on an article just refreshes the screen. At least 50% of the time I have to copy the link and open it in a browser. No reason for the app at this point. Samsung Galaxy S21+ 5G with latest OS + Updates.

Fantastic app. Only one problem: very few articles actually open when I tap on them. The screen flickers, and I'm left on the same screen. I don't particularly enjoy having to switch to my laptop to read a 2 minute article that the app refused to open for some reason.

Edit: this has gotten worse. I'm unable to access most articles that I get notifications about. I tap the notification and it takes me to the homepage, then I search for the article and tap it but it doesn't open. If you're going to send me articles to read, make sure I can read them! Buggy. Can't open certain articles on the what's new page. Sometimes it's all of them, sometimes it's just the one I want to read.

Still a mess but improving . Does not work offline which is nuts. An increasing number of stories are media enhanced which makes them a lot less easy to read and they don't show up in the main navigation as you look at sections if you use print edition. Their is no benefit whatsoever to a reader to have bouncing sentences over graphics . It makes the otherwise great content hard to consume

Oct '24 Update: +2 Stars. App still needs work but credit where due: - After the update and clearing app data, all articles FINALLY open, even web links, plus I get properly signed in with a auth token. I'd prefer all acticles in-app, but this is a big step. Thank you. - Saved articles actually sync between app & website now! About time, right?? - Still annoyed w/o in-app Dark Mode, and having to set the whole phone to dark mode. WSJ is BY FAR the brightest app. I dont want my whole phone dark.

I want my money back. I thought my subscription lapsed because I was getting paywalled in the app, but that apparently wasn't the case. I had a open and active subscription, still getting blocked from contenton Android, not on web. I've cancelled now. This is the second time I've tried and cancelled WSJ due to subscription issues. I will not return as much as I like the content.

I'll never give up my WSJ (unless they pull a 180) but this app is not great. Since the update things seem.. scrambled. Also the side scrolling "feature" when reading an article is unbearable. I can barely scroll vertically without the app insisting on moving side to side and trying to move horizontally to an adjacent article. I'm not done reading THIS article. I don't get it.
