Features
Field Recorder provides easy-to-use presets for standard audio recording tasks. However, it is designed for professional use as it provides more than 85 options to customize it to the given device and situation.
⚫ Built-in and external microphones are supported and also 'class-compliant' USB soundcards with Android 5
⚫ Records and plays mono or stereo wav files
⚫ Supports file overwrite and resume recording
⚫ Convert your recordings to mp3, AAC or FLAC via free helper apps, share or send them
⚫ Up to 90 seconds pre- and 4s post recording. You won't miss any important stuff even if you are too late at the record button
⚫ Auto start, stop, and continue, depending on loudness. The control signal can be additionally filtered to optimize it for voice recording or other sounds
⚫ When recording, automatic stop at 4GB maximum file size and even seamless restart of a new file is available (activate auto start with the minimum threshold)
⚫ High-precision stereo audio recording engine with various low-cut filters, minimum-phase shelving and parametric equalizers, and stereo balance correction e.g. to compensate for flaws of the microphones or optimize for speech. Also with recording booster, configurable limiters, soft clipping, and high-quality monitoring
⚫ Wav player with volume maximizer, silent and audible fast-forward and fast-rewind, and low-latency random access to any play position via progress bar
⚫ Recordings are stored internally or on any chosen SD card. Default is SD card. Recordings are visible to your favorite player
⚫ Almost 10.000 colors available for the metallic-brushed skin. Also, you choose round or rectangular LEDs, left-hand operation, button size, and your favorite color for the display area
First steps and testing
Use the 2 hours refund period to test how audio recording works on your phone. Touch "Factory" in the display area and you probably find a preset in the cloud perfectly adapted to your smartphone!
Or try the different input configurations from "In:MicA" to "In:MicE". If you activate "Monitor", use headphones to avoid a sound feedback loop. Check without creating audio files, just by pressing the pause button which activates the level meters. Then you see a date/time string as the potential file name. It is created only if you press the record button
Hints
⚫ If you modify a preset, its name gets gray in the display area
⚫ Playback can amplify quiet recordings by choosing e.g. "Play +20dB" without distortion due to a 2nd limiter. The Monitor switch affects only recording
⚫ Touch the "time/position/free" label to show the remaining recording duration
⚫ Touch battery symbol to toggle between battery and CPU usage
⚫ Touch "CLP" to reset red LEDs
⚫ The level meter shows peak amplitudes or the start/stop control signal. Touch it to open its configuration menu
⚫ Active auto start overrules pressing the pause button
⚫ The 1.5kHz filter optimizes the auto start/stop control signal for speech. 750Hz better suppresses disturbing sound with high frequencies, 3kHz with low frequencies
⚫ Soft Clipping is active above -3dBFS
⚫ Limiting and Soft Clipping work only if Boost is greater than 0dB
⚫ "Boost 40dB" or more might produce hardware feedback loop if power supply is instable
⚫ Overwrite and Append modify existing recordings (warning can be switched on/off)
⚫ Activate flight mode to reduce noise floor

I don't usually get a paid app like this but decide to take a chance because of the listed features. There are so many options to fine tune the app and the recordings. My Motorola One Ace 5G can record in stereo using the internal microphones. True strereo recording holding the phone sideways! Top of the phone records on left and bottom records on the right. No issues so far. * 2 years later update : Still using this app on the same phone. Still works great with zero issues.

If Someone knows how to place markers while listening to a recording much would be appreciated....... this recorder is amazing The sound it produces is unbelievable, it's definitely worth getting. been using it for 8 years recording the Christmas service and my cousin's band when they put out a concert... Lately I just want to take a few pieces out of an hour and a half recording and I can't find how to use this feature if available

Great response to my previous review, much better than android or Google. Samsung is meh. Ill definitely be emailing you for anything that you can tell me. I got this because EMG told me not to rewire my guitar's active pickups, eliminating switches and knobs, and reusing the TRS jack for stereo instead of R as a switch. Decoupling is a issue, it doesn't play well with a balanced line, and if anyone else picks up my guitar and plugs in a standard TS instrument cable, blue smoke!

Superb - exceeds expectations. Full set of capabilities, easy to use, interfaces with your phone mic or external hardware, fully configurable. Sans your field mixing rig, or without one, you could conceivably use this app to cover your field mixing needs. I recommend experimenting to determine the combination of gear that works for you. Are there caveats, details, gotchas? Of course - but that's not the app, that's show business, baby.

Perfect! It's like a real field recorder on your phone! This is a powerful, professional quality tool. It's not a 'consumer grade' junk app like a lot of others. This has soft clipping, limiting, EQ, file management, complex controls over the UI so it can work for you however you need. It exceeded my best possible expectations. Thank, you, Dev. This was exactly what I was hoping for!

Second review: I love app's features, but it often fails to load when I need it in the field!!! The only app the I've ever had fail after purchase saying I need to be online or email to get it to open. It's a FIELD recorder (i.e., a place without connectivity)! I posted this fact in previous review a year ago. They blamed google play. I went back to the field and it failed again, so it seems to be a problem with the app. You won't be able to trust this in the field unless you are always online.

So far, I've been blown away. I use recorders frequently for recording instructions, meetings, new song ideas, etc, and usually phone recordings are absolutely atrocious. This app allowed me to record stereo mics without the shoddy noise reduction or automatic level adjustment that my phone's manufacturer has installed. It's also got lots of settings that I'll probably never use, but hey, they're there if you need them. Some users complained about unintuitive UI. I didn't have an issue with it.

This is excellent. I use it primarily to record jam sessions and band practices. Sound is very good and recording options are plentiful. One suggestion, please add an option to "Cast" playback to Chromecast speakers or the Chromecast dongle. Currently, without plugging a cable into the phone that is used for recording or using Bluetooth, there is no way to hear the recording in high quality.
