Aves can handle all sorts of images and videos, including your typical JPEGs and MP4s, but also more exotic things like multi-page TIFFs, SVGs, old AVIs and more!

It scans your media collection to identify motion photos, panoramas (aka photo spheres), 360° videos, as well as GeoTIFF files.

Navigation and search is an important part of Aves. The goal is for users to easily flow from albums to photos to tags to maps, etc.

Aves integrates with Android (from KitKat to Android 14, including Android TV) with features such as app shortcuts and global search handling. It also works as a media viewer and picker.

I was hoping to control which folder to view and source (internal or SD card). My SD card has pictures nobody needs to see or know. This app literally looks for pictures in the music folder, which I have the covers of the LP's. I don't need to see that. I only want to see pictures / photos and not video which is good at avoiding. I want to control which folder and just view & not edit anything. Old people just want that, nothing more.

I've been searching for an alternative to Samsung gallery after I changed my phone and this one is the best I got. Unfortunately, it really struggles when browsing folder that have a lot of photos, like 5000+, with a lot of them being fairly big for images size, so there's quite a bit of stutters and sometimes crashes.

Closer to the gallery experience I'm looking for than the other options I've tried, but I would really like a "slide to adjust brightness" option for photos; all I see is a "max brightness" option. It exists for videos, why not other media? Would also be nice to have different sort options per album: I have some I want by date and some I want by filename, etc., and I have to re-sort each time.

EDIT: I understand that for cross-device compatibility the metadata dates are more accurate, but personally as a casual user coming from samsung gallery, having the other option would be much preferred. I would use this app as my main gallery app, but the date sorting jumbles my photos and videos. I've tried modified date sorting in 2 other gallery apps and they work fine.

Almost perfect and I love the look of this app. Please add a button to hide/unhide folders with biometrics on the top toolbar just like other gallery apps. This way I can move images to folders I don't want other people to see like important notes. The current way to do this is tedious because the option is buried in the privacy settings. Keep up the good job and I hope this gets implemented.

Amazing gallery app. No add. No in-app purchase. It's a free lite app. I can quickly rotate images. This is my first review of any app after owning android for over a decade. This app was diffiicult to find because it didn't show up when searching for gallery apps. Too many other apps have ads.

I like this app and it works good as per my needs. Request to developer: Kindly sir, allow feature to modify the swipe commands. Sometimes when I swipe and it is not known whether the screen has rotated the swipes get mixed up, and while I want to swipe 'next' , it goes 'back' (very bad for me) or brings up the details of the image. Also I would like to add or remove 'stars' to an image by swiping up or down if the feature gets added. Thanks for this great app.

Been using for a week or two. Enough features to meet my needs: basic editing (sometimes), attachment to messages (sometimes), and transfer to temporary web storage (occasionally). Collected Aves because Google Photos keeps bugging about their auto' photo storage. Responding 'no' once should've been enough, but prompts appear after each little app' update. Then 'new' Google sharing feature prompts started. Moving on. Thanks Aves.
