The PlaneEnglish Aviation Radio Simulator (ARSim) is an interactive aviation radio simulator created to enable pilots to learn and master aviation radio communication, procedures, and phraseology and gain the confidence to overcome the fear and trepidation of talking to Air Traffic Control.

AI-based air traffic controllers and instantaneous feedback through voice recognition and speech analysis guide new pilots through realistic scenarios toward proficiency in aviation phraseology and communication.

The built-in training curriculum, step-by-step description of phraseology, and hundreds of randomized scenarios give you the opportunity to level up and to master this critical aviation skill.

The AIRPORT, PATTERN, and HOLD modules provide foundational knowledge on airport signs, markings, and lighting, on how to fly and communicate while operating in the pattern / circuit, and executing instrument holds. The touch-based and voice-based interactive capabilities of ARSim make every lesson engaging and informative, to help you gain new knowledge and to sharpen and refresh your existing skills.

You can access hundreds of airports, step through over 200 lessons, and experience thousands of scenarios and situations of interactions with air traffic control for all phases of VFR and IFR flight. In the process, you will earn FAA WINGS Credits for the VFR and IFR TRAINER, AIRPORT, and PATTERN modules.

Guided by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) phraseology, standards, and radiotelephony procedures, the training content offers you the ability to experience the aviation communication standards used across the world.

As new pilots, you can gain critical safety skills in an accessible and effective way and build critical muscle memory, thereby expanding the learning opportunities...beyond the classroom and outside of the cockpit.

Download ARSim and explore first-hand what it can do for you and your flight training experience. You will be able to try out the full functionality of ARSim with the always-available free content (in BASICS, AIRPORT, PATTERN, GLOSSARY, RESOURCES modules) and the free trial period. Don't forget to look around in Settings for the many customization options, phraseology standards, and primary flight displays.

Overall, it's a very good way to practice phraseology. My speed and clarity is definitely improving. The speech recognition for lesson grading is almost useless. You have to constantly correct the grading by manually selecting "mark as correct". The unfair lesson grading given by a terrible speech recognition is just a nuisance. And the "mark as correct" is a workaround, not a fix. Main point, my communication has improved a lot. I would recommend it, and I'll continue to use it.

App may be ok but don't expect them to support their product. I have been trying to get it to work on my PC for months now and they will not respond to my emails. Last email said they would converse with developers and get back to me. Edit: It's not resolved. I shouldn't have to install a second browser just to use your product. Awaiting response on when the supposed diagnostic feature is live to determine the problem or was that just an attempt to defer further assistance in figuring this out?

It is NOT always free. You very quickly come to a point where it's locked. It then asks you to pay for a license and after you pay it requests you to again pay to continue. Also, if you try to cancel it will cancel next billing cycle after I canceled 2 minutes after I subscribed. Sketch as hell. Now they have my Credit card number, 1 month subscription payment and I have a non working app.

One massive blunder. App does not work at all. Probably about 10% success rate for voice recognition. The app looks nice, and the idea is fantastic but whatever they have going on is just pure garbage. And then have the audacity to ask for a subscription. Fix your product, this is laughably bad.

It's great in theory but it has a lot of problems. If you take a small pause, it stops recording and opens a window explaining. You have to close that window to continue every single time. It'd be better if they just scored you on how long it took so you could see your progress as you get quicker. There's also a recording started beep and ending beep that drives me crazy. You can't buy a single month, it's 6 mo min at $36ish. No lifetime. Really wish they'd fix a few things. Could be amazing

The idea is awesome and it's very thoughtfully made with great step by step learnings. BUT: 1) the app quits after every single lesson and have to restart. 2) it doesn't recognize a third of my words, regardless of how clearly or fast/slow I say them. 3) it quits recording if you pause speech for half a second to look up information... That's not realistic at all. So close to being amazing...

It's ok. I'm Canadian so I'm naturally biased because it's an faa centered app, but the voice recognition even when I said things perfectly didn't seem to work for me. 50% success rate on parts of the call that were said correctly. tutorial is frustrating, I think the interface is simple enough. I would make a tutorial button in the corner of the home screen and otherwise forget showing people the tutorial. good concept, considered recommending to students but it's not quite there yet.

This app crashes on me after I provide a response, but it doesn't happen all the time. Just enough for it to be really annoying. It also has trouble recognising my voice. I'll be trying a mic to see if that fixes it. But I am constantly manually correcting it. Otherwise, it is a good app that can help you learn. It also appears to try to make it so you are quick on the ptt, which is important since you don't want to hold it hostage in real life.
