Now I noticed, but while trying to transcribe Italian into IPA, "c'è" is transcribed as [kɛ] instead of [ʧɛ]. Also, there aren't any primary or secondary stress symbols (ˈ and ˌ), so the Italian letters "à, è, ì, ò and ù" aswell as the Spanish letters "á, é, í, ó and ú" are transcribed with tonal marks instead of stress symbols. Also, the German digraphs "äu, äi" are transcribed as [ɛːʊ] and [ɛːɪ] instead of [ɔʏ] and [aɪ].

Very intuitive and useful app. However, there is just one thing I'd like to request, being that I would much appreciate it if you could add Dutch to the language selection. Furthermore, one slight error that I would like to point out is that all German words that start with an 's' is followed by a 'p' , 't' etc and should represent the s as 'ʃ' instead of 's'. This, and adding glottal stop symbols (ʔ) when required would make IPA transcriptions for German more accurate. Otherwise, great app!!!

Paid but still getting Ads. This is a pretty good app for learning the IPA but even though I'm running the full paid version, it still pops up ads. That's why I only gave it 3 stars. The other reason is that the settings are hard to find in the GUI and it doesn't scale well at all on tablets. The other large complaint is that you can't use it without an internet connection which makes it unusable on a plane, which is a place I would very much like to spend my time learning phonemes.

Great app for free and ads are unobtrusive. I may purchase the full version just to support the developers and to thank them. My only improvement suggestions would be to use simpler words for the English examples (for exam ple why not use bathtub instead of azidothymidine for the "th" sound) and to make sure all the sounds are available for download. Some of the phonemes, notably the funkier consonants will say my internet isn't working and they won't download, while everything else loads.

The best of a bad bunch of IPA apps. I have just payed premium and I find the 'help' unhelpful. Also the keyboard does not have swype which is essential day to day. This would not be a problem if I could change keyboard quickly but I had to go into settings to change it. If I missed something I will rewrite this review but otherwise the keyboard is practically useless and with regret will ask for refund. Nor could I find instructions on how to use the keyboard features once opened.

it's great. I'd give a 5 five if there were sound devices to listen to the sounds. other than that, it's the best phonetics app I've had.

Can you add audios for co-articulated consonants and also include the auxillary symbols and tones. For the demonstration of tones, you can use av phonetics for reference.

I'm a classical singer and currently a college music student, who needs to learn foreign languages, how to say the words properly, and to sound like I'm a local of the country where the language is from. This IPA generating app is LEGIT, FREE, FAST, and can generate IPA for French, German, Spanish, and English! Although i wish this app can also do IPA for Italian, Scandinavian, Russian, and more, All in all this app is great and it helps me a lot in learning how to say specific foreign words!
