I love this app even though it has some flaws. When I go into the woods, the app can't determine my location. Sometimes the app suggests wrong species. At other times it can't accept a more generic identification and shows only possible identifications my phone would have to have a microscope for. I'd like the algorithm to switch to the genus, when it can't find the correct macrospecies or microspecies.

Such a cool app. Now I can actually see what bug it is instead of staring at it and just wondering what it is. And you're telling me I'm able to help a good cause along with it? This is amazing! However, it would be even better if you were able to make multiple pictures before having to identify an organism. Not all animals stay in one place for a long time, so having to load extra menus before you're able to make another picture can be annoying at times.

Came here to say pretty much exactly the same what Jip Berkelder said! I too would love the option to delete observations and connect/share observations with friends. Maybe even a possibility to do challenges together? Besides that, while taking a picture in the app it looks quite sharp but after it has been taken (so before identification) it suddenly gets (a lot) more unsharp. Those things aside, loving the app and how it is gamified with badges and challenges!

Good concept but missing functions. Doesn't offer to save the pictures to gallery automatically. Now I use the camera app and then upload. Would be nice to create observations without photos, and to save observations without uploading if they are uncertain. Badges and challenges are cool, but very animal focussed. Would be nice to create more, and track them in a similar fashion to stackoverflow. Can imagine automatic challenges based on nearby observations (that's how I use the website).

Obsidentify is convenient to use interfacing well with the camera on my Sansung phone and is frequently used to identify invertebrates species, flowers and other living forms. It is my first choice to identify unknown moths that come to my trap. Unlike some other apps it appears to suggest British species, helpful in Britain, but it also made convincing assessment of African species. The weakness is that is at times not totally reliable. AI not perfect, and may convince novice recorders.

ProTip: turn location back on in the camera app settings every time you turn phone location on, otherwise you can't save ID. Took me way too long to figure that out. Best identification app I've seen yet (and I've tried many). Amazing at identifying. Gives info on the morphology, which is good when automatic ID is unclear. Gives information on the species. Absolutely love the app. Only downsides: - blurry pics when taken in-app - can't delete IDs, which is bad if you've wrongly ID'd something

Not a bad app, but it does get it wrong sometimes (e.g. keeps suggesting mandevilla is gold chain). I would really appreciate an option to correct or fill in the species manually. Also, even though you get the option to make an observation either through the camera or a picture saved in your phone's gallery, it won't let you save observations from the latter in the app.

Nice application, but it fails to get the location from the phone. It does access the location, because the icon is showing when using the application. After almost one year there is still no fix for this. So lost another ⭐ Thanks for the answer. But this issue is there already for a long time now. Maybe enable manually entering a location would simplify this and make it less frustrating
