Kanopy is a great resource if your library offers it, giving you access to a ton of free movies and TV shows in all genres, as well as documentaries and kids programming, all with no ads. The video quality is good. the only drawback and the reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that video playback is in portrait mode only. This is fine if you're watching on a tablet, but absolutely miserable on a phone. Wish they'd fix this, but it doesn't seem like it's gonna happen.

I'm quite new to the app though I've known of it for several years, but less than a few months as a user. The selection is quite good. The image "freezes" in nearly everything for a few to 30 seconds and I've no idea why. A newer phone, stronger signal might be the answer. 12/01/24. A YEAR LATER and I am extremely impressed by the wealth of new (and older classics) featured, domestic and foreign found here. It's a great community benefit. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Free movies w/ONLY a library card and internet needed 🩷✅🆒🎊! I love the app with it's various movie selections: new, international, modern, indies, classics, and more! A movie buff🍿🎥? Bibliophile 😍📚? You must download this a.s.a.p. You'll receive uninterrupted, top-notch viewing with allotted tickets 🎟️🎟️, to use per which movie you watch. It's that easy! I'm recommending this to contrast/supplement any other (free/library) film app - a rare feat.

Works on regular, not smart, TV through roku. Works on Android. No advertisements. Does not freeze or pause to buffer like Netflix. Our favorite independent films are on kanopy. Also appreciate the new listings that are unlimited viewing.

Frustrated that the app/site does not stream THE PREACHER'S WIFE as well as THE BISHOP'S WIFE during the Christmas season. Pleased that the app tracks my progress through playback, even if there are multiple episodes in a film.

I love the content, although the interface isn't great in that a lot of stuff isn't easily found unless you search directly for it. Works with chromecast however captions are often cut off at the bottom of the tv screen.

A perfectly functional streaming app with a good selection of movies. I like art films and documentaries and there are plenty of interesting obscure titles on here alongside more mainstream ones. And it's all free! I love my public library.

Great selections of videos. The problem is that the app can't rotate to landscape on the phone. You end up watching it on a small 2" × 3" window. There's also a problem with remembering your progress. When using it on the Bell Streamer, it can't go back or remember the place you stop, so you must watch it at one go. It's best to use the pc version.
