The new features are terrific and I am using the premium version. The only problem is that when I adjust/ENLARGE the text on my phone, the Korean text in Hinative does not enlarge (in the Android versions n) - I hope this problem can be fixed in the next update...for people with vision problems this is a big deal

An excellent resource for language learners who want to understand how the language is used by real speakers, in the real world. However, be cautious of over generalizations and potential misunderstandings. Remember that the answers are not generally coming from teachers or language experts. They are everyday speakers whose levels of experience and education vary. The accuracy of their answers may be limited to their experience within regional or social dialects.

One of the best supplements to actually learning to speak a language. It's really helpful getting feedback from people who speak the language fluently or are native to the country and can tell you if something sounds too formal (like how a lot of other apps teach sentence structure). Definitely recommend.

I absolutely love this app. I'm 18 and have been consistently learning japanese this entire year and I find this app very useful. Everyone has positive criticism and will correct you if you make mistakes in a polite way. Also as someone who is shy I think it's an awesome way to get out of your comfort zone and actually use the language you are learning. Overall I recommend this to anyone learning a new language.

I have so much fun making use of my knowledge in my native language. The internet usually brings out the worst in people. Conversely, with this app, I have so many authentically good and productive interactions with people. It fulfills a sense of usefulness. There are options for all kinds of teaching: correcting pronunciation, comparing words by definition, giving example sentences for words, and my personal favorite peer-review.

They switched around which features are premium --and now asking if a sentence sounds natural is premium. And the nagging to upgrade is very intrusive. $85/year is waaaay too expensive. The other features are still nice, but it's incredibly disappointing that they changed what's behind their pay wall. I'd think about it if the cost wasn't so crazy high... but it's just ridiculous. I'll be cultivating other resources, which is a bummer; this app has been a favorite for years.

It's a bit of a mixed bag. I use it for free, so can't complain too loudly. I find it silly that one should have to pay to be able to provide feedback / quality control on other user's voice messages as it cuts out valuable input. And I think it would be a good idea to check for duplicates, there's no point in having the difference between two words explained 500 times, often badly. Same applies for one word questions, for most language combinations an online dictionary will do a far better job.
