An app that only lets you complete one lesson is a free trial not a free language learning app. Disappointing since I did like the app. I'd be happy to watch ads but I'm not paying hundreds of dollars for a phone app and I'm not signing up for yet another subscription to slowly drain my savings. I understand they have to make money but don't waste my time calling it free if it isn't actually free.

This app is terrible. I would give a zero if I could. It is advertised as free, but just the first lesson is. In my opinion that is false advertising, or at least misrepresentation. I wouldn't mind an ad supported version. I get the company producing this wants revenue. So this can't be compared with Duolingo, that allows an entire language course to be completed.

Great experience so far, using it for Japanese. Miles better than Duolingo; it lets you learn more at your own pace, offers helpful grammar explanations, and provides lots of options for customizing the way you learn and practice. Also offers a section with tons of stories read by native speakers to provide a more natural learning experience after you have the basics down. As with similar apps, you'll need to use other tools to fully learn the language, but it's a great jumping off point.

08-2024 I've lowered my review because of two reasons. Koreans don't use he/she/you in the way the app does. 당신은, 그녀, & 그 are not used in casual conversation. They need to differentiate between formal and informal speech. It has been 6 years now and they still don't have that option, yet they charge people knowing that they have severe deficiencies. 03-2018 I love the option to display only Hangul without the Romanized version of words. I just wish it had an option to learn formal vs informal.

The Chinese course is fairly good. It has character writing, pinyin writing, listening exercises including videos of native speakers, and speaking exercises. The app explains the grammar in an easy way to understand. It also lets you pick between traditional and simplified characters which is something Memrise and Duolingo don't let you do (they both only have simplified characters). If you don't want to pay monthly you can also buy a lifetime subscription. Overall a solid language learning app.

I'm currently transitioning from Duolingo to LingoDeer, so it took a little while to get used to. Although, once I did, I rather enjoy it over Duolingo. Though you may already have it, I wish there was a streak notification on my home screen. Anyway, yes, it is a great app. Maybe not exactly a five, but if there was a minimum, it'd be 3.5. The money is definitely worth it. I'm grateful to have access to this app. It teaches more and better than Duolingo.

I love lingodeer. It has much better grammar explanation than duolingo or any other app. And i like you can buy it forever, not a subscription. I love recording and comparing my pronunciation with the native speaker. And while i haven't gotten to all the advanced stuff i want to test myself on yet, it seems to have the testing of conjugations that i was seeking! I wanted something that presented all the options of a conjugation and asks you to pick the correct one. Very happy with lingodeer.

Edit: I asked for Greek a while back and it is here! I am so happy, thank you! One of the best language apps I've used so far. I appreciate the grammar "learning tips" at the beginning of each section. so many apps I've tried seem to focus too much on vocabulary and neglect the grammar. I love being able to understand how the language is structured. thank you developers, engineers, coders, etc!
