Mostly does what is advertised. Without fully understanding, the "seasonal adjustment" has caused my yard to turn brown and flowers to wilt. During the driest summer in years, my watering times were reduced systematically by Rachios seasonal adjustment. By the time I realized what was happening, it was too late to reverse the decline.

This app is a disaster. I can't schedule the sprinklers to run once without creating a whole schedule for one day. Their "smart" schedules don't work for me here and it's very inflexible when you have to water on specific days. You can finally set a schedule to run on specific days that repeats annually, but the date picker doesn't work quite right. There are two or three different settings for how long to water for a zone and it's is really confusing. Needs lots of work

Wife got the 12 zone Rachio from Costco little over 2-1/2 yrs. ago. & it knows a lot about my area from the data I gave it. And it does a lot & trys to help save water. But as time gone by it has been harder & harder to keep the Rachio constantly connected to our wi-fi. We are having to troubleshoot more & more to get it to connect & run. And I know the software on the app is updated thru our phones.....

The schedules cannot be trusted. I set up my schedule and they follow through for the next 1 to 2 weeks, but after that they stop running consistently when they're supposed to. This is the main reason why we have a smart controller, without this simple functionality I cannot rate you higher than one star

I have had this for about 4 years. While it still is better than old school controllers, it has not improved at all. The bugs are irritating but not showstoppers, and the UI looks good, but is tedious to navigate. Another reviewer correctly pointed out that the Smart schedule is more like "keep barely alive". That's fine in water restricted areas, but not as relevant for the rest of us.

The capabilities of this system are great, but the implementation of the software is appallingly bad. If you want to delete a sprinkler head in a zone, you have to delete them all and then add back in the ones that are left. Drawing the zones and locating the sprinkler heads is incredibly difficult with fat finger positioning on your phone. The very least they should do is have a PC app where you can use a mouse to precisely put things that you want in a particular location.

I tried to add a wifi hub using the Android app but was unable to connect the hub to my wifi. I read that others with the same issue were able to work around using an Apple device instead. I tried my wife's iPad, and sure enough, the process completed smoothly. So the Android app gets a 1 star for being non-functional until this issue is fixed. If you can't add new devices to your wifi, your whole shiny system is DOA. Rachio makes good stuff, but its Android app team should be embarrassed.

Been using this system for several years now, and over that time, I've eventually disabled all the smart features and switched to fixed schedules. The smart features never put down enough water and every year my plants and lawn would be cooked by the end of summer. Making adjustments to all the factors that are used to influence the smart controls is complicated and basically becomes a guessing game. I do appreciate some of the smart features like rain/freeze skip and cycle & soak though.
