Kanji Lookup - simple, fast, and hassle-free!

This App is not a dictionary or an exhaustive Kanji reference - and nor does it strive to be! Instead, it focusses on - and attempts to excel at - one thing: Finding the meaning of an unknown Kanji character as quickly and easily as possible using the only way that really makes sense on a touch-enable device: by drawing it.

Stop wasting your time counting strokes, deciphering radicals, or learning the intricacies of 'well-designed' lookup schemes - simply start drawing the character and watch results appear instantaneously.
KanjiLookup does not clutter your results with obscure readings only found in the name of that one mountain village or cross-references to paper dictionaries you most likely don't own anyway. Instead, it simply shows you what you are looking for: The character's pronunciation and definition. In addition, a searchable list of the most relevant words containing the Kanji character is only a tap away.
Of course you can also search using the keyboard.

Works very, very well. Does exactly what it's intended to do. Handwriting recognition works well, even when you make a mistake. It gives you all the relevant information you could want in a kanji dictionary. The full-screen video/sound ads are super annoying... but at $2 to remove them, I find it difficult to complain.

Very helpful. Currently studying & learning Japanese. Almost at N4 level. Found a shirt shopping and couldn't remember few kanji. Found this app - which allows you to draw the kanji in question instead of trying to count stroke order. They also have a camera function, the sliver seemed much too narrow to help me with the kanji on this shirt, but it picked it up! Also, verified the info was with other sources.

By paying $2.11, you can remove the ads, which are indeed make the app almost useless. Otherwise, OK, although a user's guide would be helpful - for example how to look up a 2nd kanji to narrow down a list. Good features: can recognize kanji written sloppily and with wrong stroke order, can look up a kanji identified in camera.

Best handwriting kanji search! I use a different app for dictionary use. But when I need to look up a new kanji this is the best I have used. I can write quickly and sloppily on my phone screen and find the kanji right away. Other apps, seem to only work if your writing is perfect, and even then after taking time to make the strikes very clear, they still don't always show the kanji I'm looking for. This is invaliable for saving time. Thank you!

Has worked perfectly for everything I've tried. Even tried 私, which another user said didn't work, but it worked perfectly for me even with my bad handwriting and getting the stroke order wrong. Edit: I've used this at least 100 times and it's only gotten 1 wrong, which was mostly my fault for being sloppy. Only complaint is that there's no ad free version.

Wow. A kanji drawing search app that actually allows you to search kanji by drawing, and works well. Good job. My only nitpick is there's no English search or pronunciation audio, which makes the app feel incomplete. Originally have this 5 stars. Then I ran into full screen unskippable ads, which greatly makes the app unusable. Every time you click on something, you have to wait for 30 seconds while a loud video ad plays. Probably going to uninstall this.

Hey guys. I started using this app, because I had a hard time reading Kanji. This app makes it so fast and easy to just write or draw a Kanji, to find out the meaning and how to say it. On the first use, I was amazed..

Incredible app. Does exactly what I want, and when it seems like it isn't working right, most of the time, it's because I'm doing something wrong. Happily paid for the pro version. Very reasonable price, too.
