I decided to provide a rating today and found I had previously rated it with one star. Why does it mute my volume whenever there's a video on the app? Don't mute my whole phone. It means when I'm listening to music I don't want to open the app and look at the news because my music is going to end up seeming like it stops. Then I can't figure out what's going on because it shows it still playing. And I just realized it's owned by Epoch Times which is a terrible organization.

Initially I left a bad review. After using this for a few more days, it's even more annoying. Why were tabs eliminated? The fonts are all different size all over the place. They don't have author names on articles. The articles don't populate in any discernable order, it's a mix of new and old making it hard to know what you've missed. The articles don't even fully load on the first try half the time. The authors need to just copy the wall street journal's app.

Love the Hill, app not so much. Cluttered w/ads, no option to pay to remove. Better off using a mobile browser w/ an ad blocker, not ideal, but a better bet until they sort out this very flawed app. That said while the website is good, it has its share of annoying issues as well. Pointless pop-ups, cluttered. Keep it simple.

I gave the new version 1 star after it first came out and I would give it a half star even now if it was an option. The new version is a major degrade in usability and aesthetic quality. I loved the volume of easily accessible news in the prior version. The new version increases the invasiveness of ads while greatly reducing easy access to news. Less than a quarter of the news originally available can be found now. Very disappointing.

I think that with a higher rating, this app would have 1M+ downloads. How to get a higher rating: 1. Allow pay to remove ads - a small subscription would be fine. 2. Allow customization of news feed with topic prioritization 3. Personalized notifications, and breaking news notifications. 3. Better UX/navigation with dark mode. This app lacks any type of log in, which means no profile, and no personalization. Lot's of people enjoy the kind of news The Hill publishes, but we need a better app.

Articles are great, but I've had issues with the new app update (updated April 2022). Most of the time only the first section of the article appears, the rest is blank. There are also less categories and it is more difficult to get a variety of news I previously enjoyed on the earlier platform. The search function also has issues & brings up articles from years ago instead of more recent pieces.

Annoying user interface. Minimum ability to change the format to make it less annoying. And the ads! Ugh... I just want the news. I think it's the fastest turnaround time I ever did with the news app. Too bad because I really wanted to use it. I'll stick with AP and Politico.

Is it terrible for iOS too? I tried to download the app when it first came out but it wasn't usable on Android. So i got rid of it. Today I downloaded again assuming there have been some updates. Nope. Visually unappealing and almost non-functional. Would rather use the mobile web experience or Politico app. There has been so much time to listen to feedback and make changes. Healthcare.gov had a smoother roll out.
