The content is great, but the app has annoyances compared to others. Video boxes follow you as you scroll taking up screen real estate and making you close them on every single article. Also takes up cell data when you don't need/want it to -- if I wanted video I would have clicked on the video tab at the bottom. Ad bar at the bottom of every page is persistent, in addition to scrolling ads on pages (other apps have only scrolling ads, which is a much more pleasant experience). Not a joy to use.

I cannot get this app to open on my Samsung Z Fold. The home screen shows for about 2 seconds and then the app crashes. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the app and also clearing the cache. Not sure what is happening. I can see the app with no issues on my Samsung tablet or on my iPhone. I love this app...but really want to view it on my Z fold. Please help...I'll update my review from 3 stars to 5 if I can get assistance with figuring out what might be going on. Thanks!!

This app is SO incredibly frustrating! There is so much "stuff" on my screen that I can't read an article. I understand the need for ads, and that's not my complaint, but 'learn more' boxes pop up without an X that allows you to close them out. Plus, there are banners at the bottom of the page promoting CBS shows, and that further limits the space for news content. Then, the aforementioned ads. NBC is a much cleaner app than CBS or ABC. I keep trying your app, but it's just too frustrating.

I gave a 2 star because it's only good for watching live.. The videos you can choose between at the bottom are incorrectly labeled or something. I click on the trump speech, and it shows the Kamala conceded speech that I watched 2 videos up from it.. That wasn't the only instance, it's just the one before I decided to finally make a review. (If you full screen the video, then hit the home button so it is smaller, screen lock your phone, and hit play it works like a podcast, at least on android)

The break-thru ads are a terrible. I like to read the news quietly, so I never have the sound on. When you click on a story, the photo becomes dark & then when you start to read the article, an ad pops up, but if you scroll past it to the next paragraph, it pops up to cover the story. If I had been at all interested, I would have clicked on it without all the pop up reminders. Please stop.

4/15/24 Been using this app for several years, it's really a mess. I rarely bother to open it anymore because it just keeps getting worse. Loaded with so many ads that reading an article is frustrating. One ad banner on the bottom of the screen, one pop-up video ad running in the left corner (with no x-out) covering half the paragraph. This means barely a paragraph is readable without scrolling, then there are box ads running in between every 3-4 paragraphs. About to give up on this app.

I've been looking for a news app that is succinct and has more articles that I can read rather than videos. I can read a lot faster than I can watch. This is the best that I found so far, but it still has too many videos for my liking. At least a single headline does not take up the whole screen, and I can catch up on the top news quickly. But my biggest complaint is that when I get a phone notification from this app and click on it, it takes me to the main CBS video which doesn't have anything to do with the actual notification. I've given up on that feature, and turned CBS News notifications off.

CBS is awesome for providing an app with a free news stream and the option to cast. That being said, this app is fantastic! ....when it works. The app has been prone to connectivity issues for the entire time I've used it. At first it would cut out on Chromecast every few seconds. Finally got that fixed, but now the app ONLY works when casting. (Took 1 star away for that) Someday maybe CBS will have a real workable app. If i could use the app without casting, it'd get 4 stars. Good luck!
