EVnSteven (Even Steven) makes it easy to track and manage EV charging at regular outlets in apartments and condos.

Rather than investing in expensive networked charging stations that come with monthly fees, internet requirements, and payment processing charges, building owners can use existing 120v (Level 1) outlets or set up affordable Level 2 chargers. The app tracks how long each user charges their car based on user-reported check-ins and check-outs.

This system does require some trust. While some building owners may fear users being dishonest, the reality is that the risk of someone stealing small amounts of power over long periods is impractical and easily detectable through spot checks. If you can trust your residents, EVnSteven will work for you. And if you’re concerned that someone with a $60,000 EV is going to steal $25 worth of electricity over a month, there may be larger issues at play with those residents.

Setting up EVnSteven is simple: building owners register an outlet in the app, print and post signage, and users check in and out via the app whenever they charge. Each month, the app generates bills for users, so they know how much to pay the building owner.

The myth that 120v charging is too slow is easily debunked. Most cars are parked for 22 hours a day, and a 120v outlet can add up to 180 km (112 miles) of range per day, or 1,260 km (784 miles) per week—more than enough for the average daily commute in North America. For longer trips, public fast-charging (DCFC) can fill the gap quickly.

Using EVnSteven costs as little as $0.12 per session, which helps support app development. Users pay the building owner separately for their energy usage through a mutually agreed-upon payment method.

With no need for costly charging stations or network fees, EVnSteven makes EV charging affordable, accurate, and reliable for those who can extend a little trust.

It may not be a fit for every building, but for many users, EVnSteven has been the ideal solution, avoiding the high costs of dedicated charging infrastructure. With so many 120v outlets already available, some drivers have easy access to convenient, affordable charging where they park.

Using the app for EV charging at our motel. This is great because it allows print signs so our guests know the procedure. It's nice extra revenue for our business and a good convenience for our guests. We have three 20 amp outlets. Great for overnight charging. The app was easy to set up, and pretty good so far. I never give 5 stars. Would be nice to generate billls on demand instead of monthly, but it's okay for us now because we can check the charging history when the guest checks out from the

I've been looking for a way to easily track my charging at home because I drive a fleet vehicle and my employer reimburses me. So far so good 👌 Nice and user friendly. Setup took no time. Was a little confusing setting up peak and off peak rates but figured it out after a bit.
