XMPP Features
Conversations works with every XMPP server out there. However XMPP is an extensible protocol. These extensions are standardized as well in so called XEP’s. Conversations supports a couple of those to make the overall user experience better. There is a chance that your current XMPP server does not support these extensions. Therefore to get the most out of Conversations you should consider either switching to an
XMPP server that does or - even better - run your own XMPP server for you and your friends.
These XEPs are - as of now:
• XEP-0065: SOCKS5 Bytestreams (or mod_proxy65). Will be used to transfer files if both parties are behind a firewall (NAT).
• XEP-0163: Personal Eventing Protocol for avatars
• XEP-0191: Blocking command lets you blacklist spammers or block contacts without removing them from your roster.
• XEP-0198: Stream Management allows XMPP to survive small network outages and changes of the underlying TCP connection.
• XEP-0280: Message Carbons which automatically syncs the messages you send to your desktop client and thus allows you to switch seamlessly from your mobile client to your desktop client and back within one conversation.
• XEP-0237: Roster Versioning mainly to save bandwidth on poor mobile connections
• XEP-0313: Message Archive Management synchronize message history with the server. Catch up with messages that were sent while Conversations was offline.
• XEP-0352: Client State Indication lets the server know whether or not Conversations is in the background. Allows the server to save bandwidth by withholding unimportant packages.
• XEP-0363: HTTP File Upload allows you to share files in conferences and with offline contacts. Requires an additional component on your server.

The app is great, first app that I buy ever (been using Android devices for 10 yrs.)! It does everything I need. Unfortunately, there are no notifications for messages in group chats (MUC). Normal notifications work fine. Please, fix notifications for group chats! EDIT: I have entered the group --> menu (three dots) --> Channel details --> Notify on all messages. Now it works 👍 thanks! (changed to 5 stats now 😃)

It's a fine just works app However, there's one important feature missing which is present in Blabber. When using multiple accounts, it doesn't show name of the account one uses for a conversation. This is a bit of an inconvenience. I hope to the developers will look into this. Otherwise, this app deserves at least 4 stars

Getting double messages quite often. Perhaps on the server end, but it never happened with my other xmpp apps, also it hangs when sending images, then they never deliver. Nice interface, fast response and I assume that my problems might be on my server end. I love the app, and if I can't iron out the problems I might change my review.

So, I could have saved myself money by using the free Legacy app version of this app, which still supports the ever popular and secure Off The Record, rather than pay for an upgrade with reduced features. Fantastic. 🙄 Give users the option to use the app how they see fit, especially when it's down to our security, instead of making decisions for them and crippling usability.

Hello dear developers. I have few questions about the size of the app. Why the previous update 2.3.3 was around 2-3 MB and this update 2.3.4 over 7 MB? There are no new featutes just a small fix. My android version is the same 8.0. I am curious to know why is that difference? Also when I compile myself the app(free compat debug) with Android Studio on Windows 8, the size of the app is almost three times bigger, about 17 MB. Thank you for the best xmpp app on the market!

Few suggestions for the developer 1. Slide to reply option must be there to reply particular line easily. 2. Freequent messages append in one paragraph. Every line of the message should be in seperate line so that a user can opt which message he wants to reply. 3. Pictures quality decrease when sent through this app. It should go as it is.

Wonderful app. Bought this as a token of support . One thing is needed that the app should have in-app picture and video gallery so that we can see the images and videos right from the app. I mean WhatsApp and telegram has already got this. You need to click on gif and then let it load in 3rd party gallery to see what someone has sent you. I hope developer got what I am trying to covey. I can open a ticket on GitHub if required. Just a suggestion.

It just works, and works well. Extremely low battery usage. It can take a little navigation to find your barcode to show new contacts. The app is great when other people have the requirements for video chat - no desktop Linux software packages do sadly (Ubuntu 20.04).
