The Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has developed a mobile app, called ' LU-Alert ', to alert the population in case of an emergency and share information about risks by smartphone. The app supplements the alert system operated by the Government and forms part of a general approach for increasing public awareness and understanding of risks and protective measures.The app enables the Government to broadcast alerts about major incidents, natural hazards or imminent danger. It allows users to be alerted by a notification on their smartphone in the event of a situation that affects public safety. It is possible to choose types of risks / proximity / places of interest settings to display personalized alerts.
As a preventive measure, information on appropriate behavior to adopt and the various emergency response plans are also available via the app.
