Waterfox for Android is the privacy focused mobile browser that puts you in control. Created fully open source, Waterfox strips out analytics, telemetry, and unnecessary closed source integrations, instead giving you a clean private browsing experience.Unlike other Android web browsers, Waterfox does not have any analytics or telemetry that track your usage. It also does not use closed source SDKs or have sponsored shortcuts enabled by default. Integrations like the closed source Pocket read-it-later service have been removed. Additionally, all code related to Chinese censorship has been stripped out.
Waterfox puts privacy first. It blocks online trackers, stopping companies from profiling your browsing habits. It comes with encrypted DNS support using DNS over Oblivious HTTP to prevent censorship. With this unique feature, your DNS queries are hidden to avoid network manipulation and is the ONLY web browser to offer a premium feature for free!
In terms of customization, Waterfox will support add-ons so you can enhance your mobile browsing experience. It also has customizable settings for history, cookies, zoom level, and much more. You are in full control.
Under the hood, Waterfox uses the same lightning fast Gecko engine that powers the largest open source web browser. Pages will load quickly and websites will perform smoothly. Waterfox also supports modern web standards and technologies for the best browsing experience.
Waterfox is independently developed with a focus on user privacy and choice. There are no metrics or data collection happening behind the scenes. Waterfox for Android brings desktop class privacy to mobile.

Switched from Firefox due to the new generative AI scraping issues that browser now has, Waterfox being independent is great peace of mind. *Almost* as good as the Firefox app. However, there are 2 issues I would like to see remedied. If these are fixed, I will change to 5 stars. • The tab menu *always* opens to your regular tabs, even when you are in private browsing, and you have to switch to your private browsing tabs again • Autofill still does not fill in your passwords on some sites

Fantastic app with rapid support, absolutely worth using as your primary mobile browser. I seldom experience bugs, and even when they do happen the developers fix them very quickly. Not to mention, being built on Firefox, it has access to uBlock Origin (among many other very useful extensions) and therefore ZERO ADS, unlike almost every other mobile browser.

a very good alternative to the mobile version of Firefox since the sites load faster and this generally feels faster, but it is pretty uncomfortable to know that extensions don't work in an installed PWA, I don't see why they don't, I'd love to have uBO enabled within the PWA, would love to see it as a feature.

I'm using this instead of vanilla Firefox because it's slightly more customisable plus it has a fair few more add-ons that privacy conscious users may find very useful. Personally, I like being able to choose my own background wallpaper plus colour scheme. Almost as nice as Opera or Vivaldi. Besides these, some minor differences compared to the donor browser. Oblivious DNS is one. Objectively, it it feels like it runs a bit smoother.

untested buggy and terrible Firefox based experience. the dialog to open external apps never works, if you have bottom search bars then it overlays over other dialogs. consider any worse at blocking ads vs other comparable privacy browsers.

Very very good browser! It's my main browser on a PC now. I use it on Android on a phone that's not very powerful. I like it! I always liked the fact that you can install on Moz. Firefox add-ons, and waterfox is a "fork" of Firefox.. the perfect fork!!!

There is no option to disable the inactive tabs grouping in Waterfox. That's very annoying and frustrating. This option is present in other Firefox-based browsers for Android. And this bug ruins my (otherwise good) Waterfox experience entirely.

It's decent but it's really not optimized at all for Bluetooth keyboards. Ctrl+T doesn't make a new tab, Ctrl+L doesn't highlight the URL bar, etc. Will update this review if these keystrokes get added.
