Experience New Zealand's nationwide EV charging network with ChargeNet.

ChargeNet is Aotearoa New Zealand's EV fast-charging network. We exist to power positive change by bringing about a future where EVs are the everyday normal.

We started by building the first nationwide EV charging network. Now, we're on a mission to double the capacity of our fast-charging network over 3 years so everyday drivers can charge where and when they need to.

The ChargeNet app offers easy access to our extensive network of rapid and hyper-rapid charging stations across the country, providing drivers with the convenience and reliability to keep you moving.

Key Features:
- Locate Charging Stations: Find more than 400 fast charging points across New Zealand. From the far North to the deep South, ChargeNet ensures you're never far from a charging point.

- Real-Time Availability: Check the real-time status of charging stations to see availability, ensuring you can plan your charging stops efficiently.
- Monitor Charging Sessions: Keep track of your charging progress with live session monitoring, including updates on charging speed, duration, and costs.
- Filtering Options: Tailor your view to meet your specific charging needs by adjusting plug type, status, and minimum charging speed. The filter will adjust all information on the map to your settings and update your closest charger to the site matching your criteria.
- Site Information: Access detailed information about each charging site, including the number of chargers, available charging points, maximum charging speed, pricing, and site notes.
- Guided Start Charge: Experience a smooth and stress-free charging process with our new guided start charge feature, designed to walk you through each step.
- Account Management: Manage your ChargeNet account effortlessly. Update personal details, view transaction history, make manual payments, and access support within the app.

Apparently, the app only accepts much less characters than their website. Once you reduce the size of your password, you'll be able to login into the app. Although it allows you to activate the station, It doesn't differentiate whether the station is in used, broken, or what else. And you can only see it once you tap on the station. Hence, if you're in dire need of charging, you won't be able to check which station is available in a glance - you'll have to manually tap on each of the station whether that station is available or not. Quite fiddly to use, in my opinion.

I have a home charger so don't need to charge much out and about but I have tried 3 times to use charge net and it's just not a seamless experience. Today a charger is out of order which is useless but only found out after I parked and got out in the rain! The last time the rfid sensor could not detect 2 different fobs (which work elsewhere) - this is New World in Mt Roskill and the time before that I had to ring and get support but we couldn't get it going then too... All a bit frustrating...

The app failed me in its primary task - enabling me to charge my EV. It seems the only way to do this is using "location" and this is broken for my Android 15 (running Grapheme) - despite ensuring the permissions are there. Assuming this can't be fixed I don't know why you can't scan/find a charger and activate that way or have phone act as virtual RFID device. Luckily my wife's IPhone did work. (Once she had started the charge I could see status on my phone - so its not a total write off)

terrible app. couldn't make it past sign up without entering a NZ mobile and address. It gives an unknown error code and doesn't actually specify this, just found out by trial and error. for non NZ residents visiting with a rental car this is not helpful and not user friendly.

Excellent control for a charge station, informative, you can follow charging progress while you do other activities such as shopping, or having a meal. An extra feature could be to make the charge point address more obvious so it can be plugged into the car's GPS for those who still use the car's GPS.

This App is so easy to use. It has some fantastic features. Checking charger occupancy as I travel is a particular favourite. I was asked for suggested improvements and could not come up with any.

The app itself is fine, but ultimately the app is just a way to access the ChargeNet network--and that's got issues. Many ChargeNet chargers are labeled as 50kW shared between two plugs, which given New Zealand's tight electricity supply is completely reasonable. What's NOT reasonable is that if a vehicle is using the CHAdeMO plug while another is using the CCS2 plug, many chargers send 12.5kW to the CHAdeMO plug and 37.5kW to the CCS2 plug. Totally outrageous! Shame on ChargeNet!

Given the rates Chargenet charges, you would think they would invest a little in the app. A simple search to find a charger by ID would seem a basic feature. As it stands, the location facility in the app lacks accuracy.
