Seoul Subway App is developed by Seoul Metro which operates Line No.1~8 of subways in Seoul to enhance convenience of foreign subway users in Seoul. This app enables foreign travelers to use a subway without inconvenience from boarding, transit to arrival of a train by receiving location-based information.
Detailed features are as follows.
▴ search a route by station name, No. and destination
▴ display real-time train information by station or line
▴ provide information of subway stations, notification of arrival station, congestion level of a train based on the current location
▴ receive a situation alarm in case of the delay of a train
▴ receive a guide service to find restrooms within a station, exits and transit.
▴ provide information on tourism attractions around a station and subway line map for Seoul’s famous tourism destinations
The app is easy and convenient to use with simple design and configuration.

- call: to call to a station office and emergency contact
- file and media: to download data in need of operating the app such as a line map and others
- location and nearby device: to receive the boarding location of a train, arrival notification service, report a complaint on a train
[Optional access right - Seoul Subway]

- microphone: to use a mode for people with transportation vulnerability and Google voice recognition service

why the hell does every single korean govn. app require all sorts of permissions to do such simple things? WHY do you need the access to my photos, audio files, etc.? This app requires ZERO permissions for what it's doing. None of these permissions should be mandatory.

Need call access to manage maps? Does the app need to call an operator in the background to get from point a to point b? Crashes often and is unreliable. After reinstalling, I found that I could deny permissions by following the prompts. But I can use this app for nothing but prompt for permissions. Reinstall and grant all permissions including notifications. Then it looked like app was going well. So often crashed may due to i disable call permission in phone settings before.

I was following the app. It mislead me to another subway line. App is easy to use but I think its not updated or there might be a change in the subway lines.

Requests an excessive amount of permissions. I just want a map, I don't need fancy features.

Could not start the app the permissions it wants are unacceptable and way beyond what is need. I really can not see any reason the app needs access to my files or to make a phone call. They basically want free run of all my personal data there is no good reason for that, i can think of several bad reasons though. Because it is a waste of space unless I give it access to my personal data which is not required to see the maps I un-installed it.

Would be much better if they listed locations of elevators for each station. It's sometimes impossible to locate elevator from the street..many stations have only one elevator to street and it's blocks from the most popular stairs entrance. If developers are reading this please mark elevator entrances on maps or have an option to toggle on wheelchair access. Thanks

App is a clunky to use and doesnt offer too many new thing than the apps already out there. Only thing new is the tour feature. It demands permissions for too many things that many people might not want nor need. Also, only has the classic tourist spots which is annoying. Children's Grand Park isn't even on the map.

This app was working really well until the latest update. There is now a bug that closes the app every time you attempt to find a route from a to b. It was my go-to app for navigating the subway in Seoul. Until this bug is fixed, I have uninstalled the app. I hope it is fixed very soon.
