Get rid of the unsolicited calls once forever. Safely and absolutely free.

Telemarketers, phone scams or „just“ unsolicited surveys? The Should I Answer app can get you rid of all such calls.

How does the app work?
Whenever some unknown number calls the app checks it in its permanently updated database - immediately, without internet connection. If it finds out that other users reported the respective number as nuisance, it warns you against it. Or if you want it so, it can block it directly, the caller will not be able to reach you.

It is just the database used by the Should I Answer app which is an absolute unique part. It is composed directly by the users of the app: after each unknown call the users can rate it anonymously either as safe or spam. After approval given by our admins the report is then visible in the database where all users can benefit from.

What the app can do?
• It can protect you effectively against the unsolicited calls. You can set the level of protection exactly according to your needs: from simple alert of unsolicited call to direct blocking.

• It can block even hidden, foreign or premium rate numbers. Also you can write your own lists of blocked or allowed numbers.

• The app can be used as fully functional dialer app: you will find all your Contacts, favourite Contacts and complete call history in it.

• The app can protect you even offline. If you need to update the local database it waits for your wi-fi connection.

• It’s simple, even your grandma can use it :-)

How does the app deal with your personal data?
Everything is happening directly in your phone, and in your phone only - your data is never by passed to some 3rd party. The app can’t „see“ even your own phone number, all reports are fully anonymous, the app doesn’t send even your Contacts anywhere.

Since an update at some point the app no longer is listed as a default choice for phone. It is for Spam. So some features I used like it's call screen and pick up and hang up no longer work. I see no way to make it the default phone app. I have uninstalled, given all permissions, overlay etc etc.

Someone stole my identity & signed me up for all sorts of lists. I had to change my number! I have a call filter through my cellphone provider. But I have been MUCH happier with SIA? It's a well thought out , and easy to understand app that ACTUALLY WORKS! And they aren't in your face like many of the others I've tried have have been. You can tell at a glance who is REALLY CALLING & see what others have said about them. Then YOU can decade wha YOU want to do. Answer, or not or even block.

EDIT: Newest Android doesn't allow this app to be set as default phone & thus the app doesn't work at all, no matter the settings. I waited 6 months hoping the devs would make adjustments so that it had functionality again but it seems they have no intentions of keeping up w/Android updates/permissions. I don't like that, so after this edit I am uninstalling what was once a 5-star app to me. I prefer apps with devs that care to keep up. I'm leaving the 5 stars to reflect how amazing it once was.

UPDATE: now the program is frequently crashing and keeps telling me the protection is not working. This has been happening for months and now, twice it has auto picked up phone calls for whatever reason. I just start hearing someone talking and it answered the phone and I wasn't even near it. I reinstalled and now lost my backed up blocked/allow lists and no option to register my backup code now. And no longer can pickup/hang up, only reject or disallow. Getting tired of this.

Doesn't do what it says even after I switched to be the default caller ID. It did work for a day and then it quit. I will not be using it anymore. I tried to keep it for 30 days seeing if it will eventually quick in and it didn't. Frustrating because I thought it was a decent app. Looks like I was wrong. Not satisfied with this.

I've been using this app for yrs & it's always been good but for the past 6 months or so it is constantly needing to update EVERY SINGLE DAY now and is VERY annoying. The updates used to be about once/twice a month which was fine. The update alert pops up constantly throughout the day and even after I completed the update it pops up again. Otherwise the app is great and helps block the scam calls. PLEASE fix the over excessive updates.

Awesome app, has saved my sanity over the years by blocking time wasting scam calls! I used to get approx 12+ a day, every day and as someone who's experienced many years of belligerent stalking, the bombardment of nuisance calls were negatively impacting my mental health. Its great we're able to add info for each new number, making the rest of us aware of what we're dealing with. Only issue is lack of info in recent months, other apps (HiYa) confirm scam etc, but nothing via SIA.

Has never been perfect, but it was functional. The latest updates are bad! So, uninstall bad or unwanted versions. Find an older apk that you liked and install it (that may require a bit of tweaking with developer options). The version that works for me is 1.4.264. Disable auto updates only for this app. Disable notifications of this app in the settings->apps (so it won't annoy you with update requests - disabling notifications does not affect app functionality). Now the app works as it used to.
