Don’t you hate when companies claim to make learning fun?
There really is nothing "fun" about learning languages.
There’s definitely satisfaction in impressing friends, passing exams, and using your language skills in the real world but the FUN comes in the time you SAVE by finding the right learning method.
Dr. Moku strives to make learning languages painless and effective so you have more time to create your own fun.
Mnemonics work.
The first Dr. Moku app was published way back in 2010, it was primitive and clunky but it helped tens of thousands of people to learn Hiragana and Katakana without the pain of rote memorization.
This new app is the start of a whole new chapter. The vision is to gradually add new languages and subjects using the same mnemonic techniques.
Stick around, it's going to be fun!

I had a minor technical issue with the app but the developer team got back to me swiftly. The app experience is great and it is easy to use. The associations are helpful. This app is really recommended for anyone trying to learn Japanese or Korean. It will make your learning experience much more seamless.

I paid for all the hiragana and Katakana modules. They're very helpful...when they load. It's pretty sad that I paid for the service and their servers can barely handle it. There's an option to download the sets so you don't have to wait but it doesn't work for me either so I guess Ill just have to use a different service even though I paid. Pretty sad.

I remember the old days with the original Dr Moku app. I loved it. I was a bit unhappy when Google Play asked me to purchase it again as the new version came out. A quick email to the Dr Moku devs, and my [old, old] previous purchase was acknowledged and restored. I'm really impressed with the Dr Moku team. Thanks, all!

Brilliant app. I have struggled with reading japanese in other apps but have made more progress with Dr moku. Also I have found their support to be really good so best of all worlds.

first I like to say thanks ! this is a really good app that really helped me learn hiragana. but I think that a few touches and this could be amazing one. 1. it seems like the questions In practice mode are not changing, only their order (not sure but seems like it) 2. add seen / learned letters/vocabulary and a choice to practice only these. again thanks!

I've been using duolingo to learn japanese, when I got to level 2 I was finding it hard to remember words and characters. I thought this would be a good companion app but it doesn't have as much as I thought it would. I was studying and "fu" came up but there was no fu in the word list. (Edit: I've been told it's also acceptable. As a beginner I didn't know that). The art is by far the best I've seen, it's why I bought the full package. I'll check the next release to see how it is then.

I may not have spent enough time. But i liked the other app where you could practice writing. I have a samsung pen and really wanted to practice strokes of each character. Is there plans to add this? Otherwise app looks better but runs slow and buy buttons are hidden. Imo there should be a general store with all deals. The other app is cheaper and it has the writing function. Please consider adding the write function again... you are going in the right direction though.

Very very promising! I can tell this is an early release so I'm keeping that in mind. The app lags a lot, especially when you first open it as I'm assuming it's downloading the necessary content. Might be better if it just took a little longer to load, I thought the app was broken for a minute. I love the varied content while studying, it's cool how it switches between vocab and quizzes. But some of the audio definitely did not match up with any options. Will surely come back to see the updates.
