In the past you can just read the articles with ads, then they made you sign up using your email. Annoying because the app doesn't keep you signed in over time, you have to log in manually, but whatever, fine. Next, even with log in, they require your name and mobile number to read the articles. Latest update, 80% of articles are locked unless you subscribe. Articles lacking depth, constantly having 404 errors and littered with typos do not warrant a paid subscription.

I just downliaded an update as your app requested. The result, I am no longer able to open the app. I further send an email to you seeking assistance, of which you don't acknowledge, what more reply. Can you bug up and respond as each time I open the app it closes immediately. Prior to the update everything was working fine but when we open it there was a message asking to update the app accordingly. Your prompt resolution is expected. I wish to rate it at ZERO, BUT THERE ARE NO PARAMETERS.

By far the most annoying news app out there. Very laggy and slow interface, sends out notifications that we cannot customize, which gets very annoying from time to time as it just dumps a whole lot of unfiltered and random news you might not be interested in. Lastly the subscription service is the holy grail of annoyance, it doesn't allow you to view the full article unless you have subscribed with your email. I might as well read through the website, which i highly recommend.

A few users have highlighted that the app doesn't work anymore ... keeps giving a ' can't reach server at the moment' error! Wake up, The Star app developers! Additional note: Installed the latest update, ' can't reach server at the moment' still persists. Would give ZERO stars if the option was available 😠!!! Update on 09-08-2019 Problem is finally fixed. Boggles the mind how the developers could release such a faulty app. Anyway, good that it's been fixed.

Too many news hidden behind a paywall with the app, yet the same news opened with a web browser can be seen fully. Too many double 15 sec plus ads which appears randomly, and does nothing at all after (for example: unlocking a news paywall). The Star Malaysia also has a very bias reporting, misleading and sometimes deceptive usage of words, tags, and sudden narrative shifting, all to subconsciously alter your perception towards friend/foe propaganda.

Terrible. The Star used to be my go-to source for national news. But now, I can't access full articles without being forced to sign up. I thought to myself, fine. I'll do it. But when I try to, it tells me my email isn't verified. When I try to verify it, it tells me to look for an email in my inbox/spam folder which NEVER ARRIVES. I can't believe a news agency like Star would stoop so low as to lock news articles behind a sign-up wall. If this isn't fixed, I'm switching to Malaysia Kini.

We have paid for a subscription for every month and yet there's still tons of ads. Besides, the app crash frequently especially when loading the useless ads. Hope the Star team could fix this and reduce the amount of ads (I understand the struggle of News stand companies having trouble these days), or maybe introduce a VIP membership without any ads. The news is very reliable and I wouldn't mind to pay more for no ads experience...
