Mobile Passport Control (MPC) is an official application created by U.S. Customs and Border Protection that streamlines your CBP inspection process at select U.S. entry locations. Simply complete your travel information, answer CBP inspection questions, capture a photo of yourself and of each member of your group, and follow the instructions provided on your receipt.

Important Notes:
- MPC does not replace your passport; your passport will still be required for travel.
- MPC is only available at supported CBP entry locations.
- MPC is a voluntary program which can be used by U.S. Citizens, certain Canadian Citizen Visitors, Lawful Permanent Residents, and returning Visa Waiver Program applicants with an approved ESTA.

More information regarding eligibility and supported CBP entry locations can be found on our website: https://www.cbp.gov/travel/us-citizens/mobile-passport-control

MPC can be used in 6 simple steps:

1. Create a primary profile to save your travel documents and biographic information. You can add and save additional eligible people to the MPC app so that you can submit together from one device. Your information will be securely stored on your device to be used for future travel.

2. Select your CBP port of entry, terminal (if applicable), and add up to 11 additional members of your group to include in your submission.

3. Answer CBP inspection questions and certify the truthfulness and accuracy of your answers.

4. Upon arriving at your selected port of entry, tap the “Yes, Submit Now” button. You will be asked to capture a clear and unobstructed photo of yourself and of each other person that you included in your submission.

5. Once your submission is processed, CBP will send a virtual receipt back to your device. Follow the instructions on your receipt and be prepared to present your passport and other relevant travel documents.

6. The CBP Officer will complete the inspection. If further information is required, the CBP Officer will let you know. Please note: The CBP Officer may ask to capture an additional photo of you or your group members for verification.

This app is a good reason for you to waste some precious time at the airport, and maybe add some spice to your connection flight stress. It does absolutely nothing to speed you up, quite the opposite. You spend time putting your info in and taking a selfie, then you get a QR code nobody ever cares about, and you get to be pushed around from one waiting lane to the other until you get to go through the same old regular CBP checks. No added value, just a time waste.

You rely on this app when making the occasional international trip. So when it doesn't work its purpose is lost. Frustrating. Just keeps erroring out and says to try again in a moment. The agents on the floor are not much help either! They just ask you to connect to the free airport WiFi which I had already done. Fix the app!

Finicky-you must guess errors. You D/L, add a pin. It asks if I'm on travels with anyone, BUT it does not advise that you need to register yourself. It scanned but then refused to accept my new Canada passport , so I inputted the info. I'm sure if I put the month/day in the wrong order, it would have halted again. The USA reverses their dates. The visa check box is not intuitive. Press the back button each time, and you will finally have success. It did save time. Painless next time, I hope.q

Returning to U. S. from Dublin. MPC is an app with potential but limited value at this point. I had the MPC app, the Global Entry app (with GE that I paid for). Had to go through Irish TSA, US TSA, and finally U. S. Customs. The never looked at my MPC receipt. I still had to scan my face for the GE line. It is a shame those two apps could not be integrated. It is VERY confusing what one really needs. I wasted my time downloading both apps and scanning in my documents.

It has always worked fine for me with my Canadian passport, but now with the latest version of the app reading my just-renewed passport, it reads all the information successfully and then creates "Unknown document - Canada". Doesn't seem to know that it's a passport, even when corrected manually. But actually it created 2 entries, and one of them is valid. Looks like a bug.

Would be hugely useful if it worked, and/or if tech support was available. Have tried 2 different phones, reloading the data both scanning and manually repeatedly, reinstalling the app, & every time we save Date Of Birth, it changes to 1 day earlier. We've even tried saving our DOB to one day later, which looks to have worked until you submit, then it reverts to the 8th. Each time we open the app, DOB rolls back another day. Renders it useless. (And no it's not user error). Please fix!

Never imagined I would have about a government app. I'm not sure how I learned it existed, but I downloaded before going to Quebec. On way back, I wasn't exactly sure how the order of things worked, but we managed it and totally skipped the line. Got to immigration guy and he looked at nothing, we matched the pictures we took moments before. The passport scanner works while the airline app scanner absolutely does not work. Bravo USA! I hope the IRS gets just as easy.

The Android version isn't allowing entry of valid dates, both when entered manually or scanned the app is changing the date to the date one day previous to that entered. Therefore, neither the date of birth or passport expiry date can be validated - this does not occur on the Apple version of the app. I have tried deleting the app and reloading but it is the same.
