Experience the magic of GPS audio walks, cycles, drives and even boat rides with VoiceMap self-guided tours in almost 500 destinations worldwide.VoiceMap tours are like podcasts that move with you, to tell stories about what you’re seeing right now. They're produced by insightful local storytellers, including journalists, filmmakers, novelists, podcasters, and tour guides. Sir Ian McKellen has even created a tour.
Why use VoiceMap?
• Explore at your own pace instead of being herded along in a group. Start and stop tours whenever you like, to grab a drink or take in the view, then tap Resume to pick up exactly where you left off.
• Focus on your surroundings, not the screen. With automatic GPS playback, you can just tap on Start and let VoiceMap guide you.
• Avoid expensive roaming fees or fiddly connection issues. After you download a tour, VoiceMap works offline and includes an offline map.
• Enjoy tours as many times as you like, both in your destination and with your feet up, at home. Virtual Playback turns every tour into a podcast or audio book.
• Extend your attention span with indoor tours that help you make the most of your time at a growing range of museums and art galleries around the world.
• With over 1,500 free and paid tours in 70 plus countries, VoiceMap offers huge variety. There are over 100 tours in London alone!
Press:
“High-quality self-guided walking tours...Narrated by local experts, they provide insight into corners of the city sometimes overlooked by regular guided tours.”
Lonely Planet
“We may be biased, but could there be anything more helpful than having a journalist in your pocket when touring a new city? How about a historian, a novelist or just a really passionate local? VoiceMap culls city-specific stories from them all and fits them neatly into walking tours.”
New York Times

Makes navigation very easy! I have used a few audio guide apps, and this one has been by far the best experience. In particular, the map feature along with the images of what you should be looking at during each segment of the tour made it much easier to know what you should be looking at.

The tour was awesome, and how it tracked our walking speed with the narration was flawless. The directions were perfect. My only suggestion would be for you to add the exact starting and ending location of the tour so people who are driving will know where to park. The tour started and finished near our hotel, so we didn’t really need the beginning and ending locations, but that information would likely be helpful for most people. I'm excited to try more of your tours.

Since I purchased only one audio tour (San Juan), I do not know if it's the tour specific or general app issue, but I had technical issue with the audio entire tour long: more often than not, audio did not play for new building, neither automatically, nor manually. I had to exit the tour and get back on in order for sound to get played. Was very annoying.

Really enjoyed this tour as well as getting lost in Charleston (literally). Had to drive most of the tour because I can't walk long distances. Even so, I was still able to navigate the tour with minimal course corrections... beware of those one way streets. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn a little history while getting their steps in. Will be doing more in the future.

I was frustrated that the price went up significantly when I got to the check out page. And I had to download 2 different apps (VoiceMap & Get Your Guide) AND create accounts with both and check my email for a code in order to access the audio tour. For Cork Highlights, the narrator was easy to understand and the navigation was pretty clear. I liked the automatic stop and start based on location. I would've enjoyed more variety, like sound effects or quotes read by different voice actors.

We could not keep the app working for more than two minutes. It froze, it wouldn't let me pause, then it wouldn't start again. It said I was at the start then said I wasn't. I tried resetting the phone, changing permissions for the app and changing settings in the app itself. In the end, we gave up and read from a pamphlet we picked up at the visitor's center.

Really slick way to do tours. Narration was clear and interesting, maps were timely and accurate, tech worked right on the first pass. Had a glitch when we paused it overnight and the downloaded tour wouldn't restart next day. I sent in a help request and had an answer (try restarting the app) within minutes that worked. We used wireless earbuds with one bud per person so we could each listen in while keeping an ear open for traffic and chat. Highly recommend, I'm looking for more tours on it.

The "In the footsteps of Van Gogh" tour was excellent. It was enjoyable and informative. We like that we could pause the tour and take time to visit the sites, something we can't usually do with a group walking tour. The app does sometimes jump to a different place after we pause it though. Overall, we highly recommend this tour.
