Distracted Driving
The primary responsibility of every driver is the safe operation of their vehicle. While traveling, mobile communication devices should be used only when the motor vehicle is at a complete stop off the traveled portion of the roadway. Do not text and drive (it's against the law) or use this app while driving.

Terrible for construction updates. Seems good for camera locations though. Ongoing construction has been going on in Marion on Hwy 151 from Hy-Vee to Hwy 13 for well over a month and it's missing an entire lane. This isn't even shown here and I literally drive it every day. This is very important for motorcycle riders like myself to avoid these roads. Thumbs down to devs for not bothering to properly update construction areas.

Last winter '21/'22, I was able to see the plows cams and road conditions on the non-major roads. This year, I can't. I live on a rural road and hoping to be able to use those app like last year but since the app has changed to don't look at as much. Plus plow cams aren't as available to see. -edit whoever reads these reminded me that I also had been looking at my county's track-a-plow page. Oops. So I am changing my rating from a 2 to a 4.

Still this app after multiple updates has lost must functionality on Pixel 3. There is no menu anymore, no way to choose which info to see. You can't turn on or off any layers, not even any way to see what layers there are. The app is stuck in the default view without any way to change that. In addition another distraction had been added when starring the app. If you don't want too distract the driver STOP asking them questions, just open to the map centered on their location.

I use this app in the winter to check my commute route, so I haven't used it in a year. I must say, the current version's UI is awful. I don't want to use this for GPS, I want to see the road conditions with the legend visible without having to open a side window. Last year's version was much easier to use, and you didn't need to mess with it while driving. You also cannot back out of the app to close it, you have to force close it.

Like everything the DOT does, it made this app useless. The old app was perfect. You fixed what ain't broke now nobody likes this thing. Before you ask me what specific function does not work I will answer the entire APP! Scrap this junk and go back. None of your business my destination if I can control my own map. Where the hell is the cameras we all paid for? So when I am driving I am supposed to navigate down to some setting to activate a layer so I can maybe see a camera? WORKS LIKE THE DOT!

The old version was great. The new password protected version is awful. I usually open the app because I need information quickly. Now it needs a password, and opens showing Africa. I have to update location-which shows all of North America, then zoom it in to show Iowa. It's absolutely ridiculous. Simpler was better!

2024 NW IA Flood: Some road closures not shown on the map, so closed roads appear open, causing confusion. App uses old state and county road numbers for road closures; not street names and numbers, which have been in place for 30 years. This needs to be updated, please.

Edit; 1 year later and still no dark mode option. Original; Heard dark mode is affecting certain readability, so the dev group removed "Dark Mode" until they can figure out how to fix. Tl;dr. Thanks for the heads up for the real reason not being in the updates. Not going to read the reply if there is one.
